Chapter 133
I sat in my office, staring out the window at the ruins of my port. It had been weeks since Aston’s madness, and I was still trying to pick up the pieces. I had lost a fortune in goods and revenue, and I was still trying to rebuild. The memory of that day was etched in my mind like a scar. The sound of explosions, the smell of smoke and fire, the feeling of helplessness as I watched my things go up in flames.
“Sir, we’re going to need more money to get the port back up and running,” my assistant, Marcus, said, hovering in the doorway.
I nodded, “Do what it takes,” I said. “I want to be back in business as soon as possible.” The repair was draining all my money.
Aston had looked down on me, thought he was better than me. He had always been arrogant, always thought he was above me. And now, he was going to really pay.
“I’m going to take him down, Marcus,” I said, my voice low and menacing. “I’m going to make him regret ever crossing me
Marcus nodded, a hint of a smile on his face. “I’m with you, sir. We’ll get him.” He said and I knew he was just trying to stay on my good side because I owed him a pay check.
“You know, Marcus,” I said, stopping in front of the window. “Aston thinks he’s so much better than me. He thinks he’s above me. But I’ll show him. I’ll show him what it means to cross Dax. I rambled on
Marcus nodded, his eyes gleaming with fake excitement. “We’ll take him down, sir. Together.”
I smiled, a cold, calculating smile. “Oh, we will, And when we do, Aston will wish he had never messed with me.”
Marcus nodded and left the room, leaving me to my planning. I was going to take Aston down, and I was going to enjoy every minute of it
I walked out of my office, heading to my bedroom to clear my head. But as I reached the door, I was confronted with a sight that made my blood boil. Laura, was standing right outside my door, a look of innocence on her face. But I knew better. She had been eavesdropping on my conversation with Marcus.
“Laura, what are you doing here?” I asked, trying to keep my tone neutral.
“Oh, I was just… uh… looking for you, she stammered.
I raised an eyebrow. “At my office door? At this exact moment?”
Laura shifted uncomfortably. “I didn’t mean to intrude.”
But I knew she had. She had been getting on my nerves lately, always snooping around, always asking questions. And now, she had crossed a line.
“Laura, we need to talk,” I said, my voice firm.
We walked into my bedroom, and I closed the door behind us.
Laura, I know you’ve been eavesdropping on my conversations, And I don’t like it,” I said, my eyes locked on hers.
She looked down, guilty was just worried about you, Dax. I didn’t mean to intrude.”
“Worried about me? Or worried about what I’m planning?” I asked, my tone sceptical.
Laura looked up. her eyes flashing. Tm your Luna, Dax. I have a right to know what’s going on.”
1 sighed, rubbing my temples. “Laura, we’ve been over this. You need to trust me. I can handle my business without your
interference.
But Laura just shook her head. “I don’t trust you, Dax. Not anymore. You’ve been shutting me out, keeping secrets from me. I don’t know what’s going on in your head.”
I took a deep breath, trying to calm down. “Laura, I’m trying to protect you. You don’t need to know everything
But Laura just crossed her arms, her expression stubborn. “I do need to know, Dax. I’m your partner, your Luna. I deserve to know what’s going on.”Belongs © to NôvelDrama.Org.
I threw up my hands, frustrated. “Fine, Laura. If you must know, I’m planning to take down Aston. And I don’t need your help or your interference.” I let out but she didn’t seem interested. I wondered what she was expecting to hear so I asked her
Laura’s expression turned icy, her voice dripping with venom. Tye seen the way you look at Kira, Dax. The way you her, like you can’t take your eyes off her. It’s disgusting.”
I frowned, unsure where this was going. “What are you talking about, Laura? I don’t know what you’re insinuating
stare at
Laura’s eyes flashed. “Don’t play dumb, Dax. I know exactly what I saw. At the event, the way you were gazing at her… it was like you were undressing her with your eyes. And it’s not just that one time, Dax. I’ve seen the way you look at her, the way you talk to her. You’re clearly infatuated with her.”
I shook my head, trying to defend myself. “Laura, that’s not what it was like.
Laura snorted. “You were practically drooling. You’re smitten with her, and it’s pathetic.”
I sighed, trying to calm the situation, “Laura, I… I don’t know what to say. I don’t care about Kira, 1 freaking left her for you!”
Laura’s voice rose. “Don’t lie to me, Dax! I know exactly what I saw. And I’m not going to accept any form of disrespect from you. I’m your partner, your Luna, and I expect more from you. I expect loyalty, commitment, and honesty, And if you can’t give me that, then maybe we shouldn’t be together,
I held up my hands, trying to calm her. “Laura, please… let’s just talk about this”
But Laura was having none of it. “No, Dax. We’re done talking. You need to figure out what you want, and fast. Because if you can’t commit to me, to us… then maybe we shouldn’t be together. I deserve better than to be cheated on, emotionally or otherwise
“Laura, please don’t say that. I love you.” I was playing it cool, being the gentleman that I knew she needed me to be. She was just being paranoid and I was trying to understand that.
Laura turned and walked away, leaving me standing there, feeling stupid and I was really dancing around on my last nerve.
I was trying to keep the peace in our relationship, but Laura was making it impossible. She was always accusing me of things. things I didn’t do, things I didn’t even think about doing. It was like she had a permanent cloud of suspicion over her head, and it was suffocating me.
“Dax, I know you’re hiding something from me,” she would say, her eyes narrowing into slits.
“Laura, I’m not hiding anything.” I would reply, trying to stay calm and patient.
But she wouldn’t believe me. She would just keep pushing, keep accusing, until I felt like I was going crazy. She would question me about every little thing, every conversation I had with someone else, every glance I gave to another woman
And it wasn’t just me. She had fired several maids, good women who didn’t deserve to be treated like that, all because of her unnecessary suspicion
“Laura, why did you fire Maria?” I asked her one day, trying to understand her reasoning.
“Because I saw her looking at you funny,” she replied, her voice cold.
“Laura, that’s ridiculous,” I said, trying to reason with her. “Maria was just trying to do her job. She’s a good person, and she doesn’t deserve to be treated like that.”
But Laura wouldn’t listen. She was convinced that everyone was out to get her, that everyone was trying to steal me away from her. She was paranoid and possessive, and it was exhausting
Being with Kira was never like this. She was calm, rational, and kind. She didn’t accuse me of things I didn’t do. She trusted me, and I trusted her. We had a healthy and loving relationship, built on mutual respect and understanding.
But Laura… Laura was driving me mad. I didn’t know how much longer I could keep it together. I felt like I was walking on eggshells around her, never knowing when she would blow up again.
“Dax. I know you’re still in love with Kira,” she said one day, her voice venomous.
“Laura, that’s not true,” I replied, trying to stay calm.
But she just laughed. “Don’t lie to me, Dax. I know the truth. I can see it in your eyes when you look at her.”
And with that, she stormed out of the room. leaving

me feeling frustrated and helpless. I didn’t know how to deal with her
I couldn’t shake off the thought that had been lingering in my mind for weeks. Whatever happened to the child Kira was carrying before she left my house? I remembered the day she told me she was pregnant, her eyes sparkling with excitement as she shared the news. I had been thrilled, thinking I was going to be a father. I had envisioned us starting a family together, building a life filled with love and laughter.
Too bad it had to end soon
