Chapter 128
Kira
Aston and I walked into the palace after a long annoying ride, only to find it in shambles. Furniture was overturned, and a part of the room was even on fire. We were both confused and worried, unsure of what was happening.
“Aston, what’s going on?” I asked, my voice shaking with fear. “Who could have done this?” it felt like I was reliving the robbery that happened only days ago.
“I don’t know, Kira,” he replied, his eyes scanning the room. “But we need to find Brax and Mara. They might know something.
Just as we were about to call their phones, we heard a loud crash upstairs like glass shattering. We stared at each other for a minute, our eyes wide with shock and fear. Then, without a word, we dropped our bags and ran towards the noise.
As we reached the top of the stairs, we were met with a sight that made our hearts skip a beat. Mara and Brax were fighting each other, their claws out and their eyes blazing with pure rage. I had never seen Brax so angry before nor Mara.
“Mara! Brax! Stop!” Aston yelled, trying to intervene. But they were too caught up in their fight to listen.
“What’s wrong?” I asked, trying to reason with them. “Why are you fighting?” My attempt.felt pathetic because they were obviously past the point of reasoning.
But they just kept fighting, their bodies tangled together as they rolled around on the floor.
Mara’s arm was bleeding, scratched by Brax’s sharp claws. Brax’s face was also scratched, his cheek bleeding too.
“Aston, we need to do something.” I said, feeling helpless. “We can’t just stand here and watch them kill each other.”
Just then, Brax landed a solid punch on Mara’s jaw, sending her crashing to the floor. But Mara was quick to recover, and she launched herself at Brax, pinning him to the ground.
“Stop it. Mara!” I yelled, trying to pull her off. But she was too strong.
“Get the f**k off her.” Aston shouted, trying to pull Brax away.
Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, we managed to separate them. They were both panting, their eyes still burning with anger.
“What was that all about?” I asked, trying to get them to explain
Mara and Brax just looked at each other like they wanted each other dead.
As we sat there, trying to catch our breath, I couldn’t help but wonder what had caused Mara and Brax to fight like that. They were always so calm and collected, never losing their temper even though it was obvious the hated each other.
“I don’t know what happened,” I said, truthfully “but I know Braz wouldn’t attack without a reason so Mara spill it, what di
you do?”
Mara stepped forward, her eyes flashing with anger. “What the hell did you just say?” she looked like she was about to rip me apart but Brax looked ready to fight her if she dared to. Aston pulled Mara back, patting her on the back to calm down.
“I don’t care what Mara did but how low have you sunk for you to fight a woman?” Aston shot back, speaking to Brax but glaring at me.
I shot back, “Look who’s talking. You’re not exactly a gentleman either, Aston.”
“Care to repeat that?” Aston glared stepping forward like he wanted to pick a fight and 1 charged towards him with the same energy. If he wanted a fight, I was going to give him one. Brax traged right behind me looking ready as ever.
Mara wrapped her around Aston urging him to calm down and whispering loudly that I wasn’t worth it. I couldn’t even deny the jealousy that stung ine.
As Aston rushed to Mara’s side to tend to her wounds, I couldn’t help but feel the jealousy twist inside me like a knife. Why the hell was Aston being so attentive to Mara? Whatever happened to fighting her?
I saw Brax sitting there, his face battered and bruised. And I knew exactly what I had to do, I walked over to Brax, trying to look as nonchalant as possible.
“Hey, Brax. Let me take a look at your wounds,” I said, trying to sound casual.
Brax smiled, his eyes crinkling at the corners. “Hey, Kira. I’ve missed you.”
I felt a flutter in my chest as I started to clean his wounds. “I’ve missed you too, Brax.”
As I worked, Brax started to make conversation, telling me about how much he had missed me while I was away. I listened, entranced, feeling like we were the only two people in the room
“I was so worried about you, Brax said, his voice low and husky, I didn’t know what was going to happen to you.”
I smiled, feeling a surge of affection for him. “I’m fine, Brax. I can take care of myself
Bray nodded, his eyes never leaving mine. “I know you can. But still worry about you.”
Meanwhile, Aston and Mara were like a team of their own, working together to patch up her wounds. It was like we were two teams, working against each other.
“So, what happened while I was away?” I asked, trying to sound like I didn’t care that Mara’s nipple was touching Aston’s arm. What the hell was she even doing without a bra on anyway? Trying to seduce Brax again! F***king s***t.
Brax shrugged. “Just the usual. It has been hell living with that witch, I just couldn’t take it anymore.” He half whispered.
I laughed loving how much he hated her.
Brax grinned. “Yeah. I guess some things never change.”
Aston asked Brax about the staff cutting through the silence with his thick voice. Brax replied that he had sent all of them on a paid leave and even I was shocked to hear that but I acted cool like it was completely normal to send all the palace staff on paid leave.
I watched Aston’s face turned red with annoyance, he couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
“So, you’re the one who pays them, huh?” Aston asked, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “That’s why you sent them on a paid leave? Without even consulting me?”
Brax shrugged, looking unrepentant. “I just felt sorry for them. They’ve been working non-stop with no holidays. I thought they deserved a break.”
Aston snorted, his anger rising. “You felt sorry for them? You’re not even the one who pays them! What gives you the right to make decisions like that?”
The argument was about to turn into a brawl, with both of them standing up and facing off against each other. But I stepped in, placing a hand on Brax’s arm and trying to calm him down.
“Brax, calm down. Let’s not do this again. We can’t afford to fight anymore
Brax took a deep breathrand nodded, his face still tense with anger. “You’re right, Kira. I’m sorry.”
Aston turned to Brax, his eyes still blazing with anger. “Call them back, Brax. Now. We can’t just leave them hanging like this.
Brax nodded reluctantly. “I’ll call them back today, but they won’t resume until tomorrow. It will be too sudden and inconsiderate to ask them to resume immediately.”
Aston’s face turned red again, and he was about to explode, but Mara stepped in, placing a hand on his arm and trying to calm him dowIL
“Aston, calm down. It’s okay. We can manage for one day. Let’s not make a big deal out of this.”
Aston nodded reluctantly, his anger slowly dissipating. The tension in the room began to dissipate, and we all sat down to
catch our breath.
As we sat there, I couldn’t help but think about how much drama had unfolded in just one day.
“Let’s just take a deep breath and try to get along, okay?” I said, looking around the room. “We can’t afford to fight anymore. I really like your face and I want it to heal I told Brax and he smiled.
I thought we might actually make it through this without any more fights. But only time would tell.
As I watched Aston and Brax exchange words, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of unease. It was like a storm was brewing, and I wasn’t sure how to calm it downt
Aston turned to Brax and said, “You know, since you sent all the staff away, I think you should make us dinner because I’m starving.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
Brax raised an eyebrow and replied, “Or you could make your own dinner. I’m sure you know how to cook… don’t you?” Aston’s face hardened, and he said, “Of course, I know how to cook. Just because I’m an alpha doesn’t mean I’m lazy.” Brax chuckled and said, “Oh, I’m shaking with fear. Well, in that case, cook us dinner. Let’s see what you can do.”
Aston’s eyes narrowed, but he nodded and said, “Fine. But don’t expect me to make anything fancy. I’m a simple man with simple tastes.”
“Whatever.” Brax rolled his eyes.
“I’m sure you don’t expect me to make your own dinner too?” Aston asked.
“I don’t have a thing for poison, thank you. I’ll make my own food.” Brax retorted and I could see the tension between the two. This was going to be fun.
