Chasing My Ex-wife Back

Chapter 48

Chapter 48

“You are taking this too far. I am sure they don’t mean it.”

“We both know that they mean it. You are the one who still thinks I’m a bad guy and you are the one hiding from reality.”

Hailey sighed deeply. “I respect you, Cole and I would appreciate it if you respect my boundaries and decisions.

too.

She wanted to wriggle out of his hold but he didn’t let her. “I am sorry if I upset you. I don’t know how to hide my feelings so I thought you should know that I was shocked but excited to know that Enzo and Ollie crave something like that”

“Even though I was on the verge of giving up fighting for your love, their conversation just gave me the motivation I needed. It made me think of the perfect life we could have in future if we stayed together. Sorry, I would be invading your privacy a lot more but now is not the time to give up on you and your love.”

Cole leaned closer to Hailey, placed a deep kiss on her forehead, and then went ahead to join the twins in the living room.

Hailey busied herself with chores around the house while Cole spent time with the kids in the living room, watching cartoons. Time flew by and it was the boys‘ bedtime. Hailey led them to the bathroom for a shower. Cole joined them because the boys insisted. He helped them into their matching pajamas after which they all occupied Enzo’s bed.

Tonight was one of the nights when the twins decided that they wanted to sleep on the same bed. Cole sat on the bed, to their left, while Hailey was seated to their right

“What story do you want me to read to you guys?”

Enzo shook his head.

“You don’t want me to read you bedtime stories?”

“No, Mommy,” Ollie said. “We want you and Daddy to talk us to sleep.”

Hailey sighed, thinking of how she was going to explain to these two little monsters that she and their Daddy were not exactly friends so they shouldn’t see them as a couple, doing things together.

Before Hailey could say anything, Cole intervened. “Sure, you can ask us anything.”

“No.” Hailey voiced out. “What I mean is, that wouldn’t work. We will keep talking and talking and then you both will refuse to go to bed.”

“Please, mommy. Enzo pouted, making Hailey sigh internally.

“Okay.” She said reluctantly.

“Mommy, do you like Daddy?” Ollie asked almost immediately.

Hailey frowned, stared at the kids, and took a glance at Cole, then back at her boys.

“Yes, Mommy, do you like Daddy?” Enzo asked, supporting his brother.

“I didn’t know we were going to be playing twenty questions.”

“Just answer, mommy. Please…” Enzo pushed.

“Of course, I don’t hate anyone. I like your Dad as a person.”

“So you are going to get married?” Enzo asked, the excitement not going unnoticed in his voice.

Hailey facepalmed.

“Come on Mommy, you don’t have to be shy.”

Knowing that she and Cole were almost at the edge of divorcing, She didn’t know what to say to her babies.” NôvelDrama.Org holds © this.

“I don’t know, baby.”

“But why?”

“But why?” Enzo started to feel sad.

Seeing that Hailey was getting really nervous, Cole decided to step in. “Because getting married takes steps. It takes

a while too.”

Ollic frowned. “What steps?”

“Some adult steps and things need to be put in place.”

“How long is that going to take? Two days?” Ollie asked, bringing up two fingers.

Cole chuckled lowly. “No baby. It takes months and sometimes years.”

Ohhh, that’s sad to hear,” Ollie mumbled.

“Why?”

“Because Ollie and I want you and Mommy to marry soon. We want to live together and have a baby sister. Aubrey has a baby sister. We want one too.”

Hailey shook her head, not believing the words of her sons.

“Where did you both get these ideas from?”

“I just want us to be a family. Just like in our cartoons. Mommy and Daddy stay together with the children. Three children but we are just two. We need a baby sister to complete us.” Ollie answered.

“It’s fine, my loves, you’ve got nothing to be worried about,” Cole assured the little duo, smiling. He couldn’t be more proud that he had the support of his boys and that was the greatest motivation he could ever need.

“Mommy isn’t at fault okay?”

“I like your mommy so much but Daddy just needs to work harder.”

Enzo arched his small brows, “Work harder?”

“Yes, baby. I love your mominy so much and I want to spend the rest of my life with her. But I need to woo her and prove to her that I am a good man, that I can be trusted and that I will be a good husband to her

“It might take a bit of time to convince your mom but hey, the good side is that I like your mommy so much and 1 want her to marry me. I am going to work hard till that happens so your dreams are valid.”

The twins smiled and said in unison. “Thank you, Daddy.”

Hailey suddenly rolled her eyes at the trio. She loved her boys so much but at this point, she wished she had a girl among the twins. Maybe she would have had some support at least.

“So are you going to leave us when we sleep?” Enzo asked with a sad face, remembering that the last time he was i their home, he was gone before the next morning.

“That is why we want you to live with us. So you can take us to school.” Ollic mumbled.

Hailey and Cole took a glance at each other, knowing there was a lot to be taken into consideration before that. happened.

Not wanting to put Hailey in the tight spot again, Cole spoke, trying to sound as sincere as possible. “We may not live together for now but I promise you all that I am here to stay.”

“For now I’m going to visit often. I will be here every night if you want me to. I will also try to adjust my work schedule. So I can take you both to school once in a while. Cole said to his sons hoping his answers were enough to put their curious minds at ease.

He knew it would take a while before they would be publicly seen together because of their safety.

Thankfully, the rest of the conversations were about the boys and Cole trying to know each other more, including their favorite thing to do and all of that.

The twins eventually got tired and fell asleep.

Cole watched as Hailey tucked the duo to bed and kissed their foreheads.

Cole did the same thing too, kissing their foreheads, after which Hailey deemed the lights and they exited the

room.

…………..

“They are so blunt,” Cole said, tucking his hands in his pocket as they walked side by side down the hallway.

“You can say that again.”

“Thank you for everything you did for them in my absence. You raised two amazing young men. I would be so jealous if someone else was their father.”

Hailey nodded, not knowing what to say.

Cole stopped in his tracks, making her stop too.

“I know this is not easy on you but thank you for giving me a chance.”

Hailey shrugged. “I have no choice. They want you and I would do anything for my babies.”

Cole nodded. “I know it would be impossible to be seen in public with them for now that is why I came up with that response.

“Yeah! I am also afraid of being with them in public. My personality sort of gained some interest since I took over my father’s company.”

“I have not been able to hang out freely with them since then. They mostly spend time out with their nanny or Debbie. I just couldn’t risk anything happening to them after my accident.”

“I understand you. This is all because of me, I’m sorry.”

“Sadly, that is our reality for now,” Hailey said.

“I want to be able to take them to school also. I want to meet their friends, and spend time with them without being bothered about anything.”

H

“It’s insane that everything I have ever avoided is coming back to bite me in the ass.”

“It is going to be sorted. I believe.”

“Does your Dad know about the twins?” Hailey asked, staring at Cole intently.

Cole shook his head. “He doesn’t. I only told Jess. And even though my Dad has been looking for me since the past week, she came up with some sort of excuse for me.”

“So sorry about that. You dealt with loss, and the fact that you haven’t been able to handle anything related to work for the past week.”

“It’s fine. Enzo is well again and that is everything I could ever ask for.”
