Chapter 13
His heart kept pounding against his chest, as he waited for the doctor to say something. He couldn’t stopped being worried, considering what the previous doctor said.
“How’s it doc?” He asked impatiently, and the doctor sighed.
“His condition is kind of critical, the cancer is almost at its final stage, it has spread through almost all his system, but good thing that it hasn’t damaged a thing in his system. Not to worry Mr Dylan, I’ll try my best to do something about this.” The doctor explained carefully, and his face dropped in disappointment. Tears welled up his eyes, but he tried as much as to hold them back, knowing his tears won’t solve anything. The thought of him, losing his dad, kept haunting him, and he couldn’t help being sad.
“Doctor you have to do something please.” He pleaded sadly.Còntens bel0ngs to Nô(v)elDr/a/ma.Org
“I can’t promise you a perfect health, but I’ll do my best.” The doctor said, and with that, he excused himself, and walked out of the room, leaving the two friends alone in the room.
“You have to be strong Dylan, I know this is difficult, but you just have to be fine, your dad won’t be happy, when he wakes up and find out that you’re not fine.” Raymond said, as he pat his shoulder, and with that, he walked over to the door, and pulled it open, before walking out of the room.
Dylan sighed softly, and slowly let his weight down beside his dad on the bed, as his eyes were fixated on his dad’s face, whose eyes were closed, his face looking pale. He gulped down nothing, as he took his hand, and caress it tenderly, before smiling painfully.
“Can you hear me dad? You’ll be fine, right?” He asked his unconscious dad, as tears finally found their way out of his eyes, as much as he want to be strong, as much as he want to be optimistic about the whole situation, seeing his ever loved dad in that condition, keeps breaking his heart into pieces, he wished he could do something, he wished he could take away the pains from him, but he couldn’t.
The sound of his ringing phone pulled his attention, and he sighed softly, before reaching out to his phone, which was inside his pocket, and as soon as he saw the caller ID, he carefully dropped his dad’s hand, and pulled the duvet over him, before walking out of the room to the balcony.
By the time he got to the balcony, the call already ended, so he unlocked his phone, and dialed the person’s number again, before holding the phone to his ear. After a few seconds ring, someone finally spoke up from the other end.
“Hey baby.” Came the feminine voice, which sounded so cool and calmed.
“Hey Amy.” He said, trying to sound fine.
“Are you OK? You’re sounding dull, is everything alright? Do you need me to come over?” The female voice inquired, with a hint of worries, resounding in her voice, from the sound of her voice, anyone would tell that he is someone dear to her.
“I’m fine babe, I’m just stressed. You don’t need to come over, ok?” He replied, as he sighed, and scratch the back of his neck. After talking with her for a few more minutes, they finally ended the call, and he sighed, before going back to stay with his dad…
Dylan POV
It’s been almost two weeks since dad has been receiving treatment from the Korean doctor, and I must say that I’m really impressed, judging from how he’s been responding to treatment. I feel my hope high again. He’s finally awake for the past three days, and I’ve been by his side for these past days, I need to take care of him well.
I took a last glance at him, as he sleeps on the bed, and I smiled, before walking out of the room. As soon as I got to the living room, I walked over to the kitchen, and wore an apron over my dress, before setting to cook. I have maids at home, but trusting them with dad’s food, is the last thing on my mind, who knows, one of them may poison his food or even does something to harm him.
I took my time to make a nice delicacy for him, and as soon as I was done, I packed it up in a plate, and arranged it on a tray, before making my way to his room. I climbed the staircase, and once I got to the hallway, I walked for a few more minutes, before I finally stopped in front of the room, and pushed the door open. I peeked in to see him engrossed in reading a newspaper, as a smile slowly crept its way to my face, only God knows how much I’ve missed seeing him this way all these moments he’s been in coma.
“Good morning dad.” I greeted with a smile on my face, as I walked in fully, and went to drop the food tray on the center table, before dragging it to his front.
“Good morning son, how was your night?” He replied with a smile on his face. Just how much I’ve missed that smile, how much I’ve wanted to see that all these time, but never got to see it.
“It was fine dad. I made your favorite. Come on it’s time to eat.” I said, as I took the newspaper from him, and dropped it on the bedside table, before picking the tray and dropped it carefully on his body.
“Smells nice.” He smiled, as I opened the plate.
“Let me feed you.” I said, as I took the spoon, and started feeding him. I made sure I fed him carefully, giving it all my attention, to make sure I don’t choke him. I spent a few minutes, feeding him, and soon as I was done, I called one of my maids to come pack the plates, which she did.
It’s been almost three weeks since I last went to work, and for these past few weeks, even if Jeffrey has been doing his best to see that the company is in the best position, I know he can’t possibly handle everything, so I’ll just go check there for a few hours, and come back home.
After getting dressed for work, I left my room with my briefcase, and went to tell dad of my going to the office, before heading to the living room.
“Cleo!” I called one of my maids, and she came rushing in.
“Yes Sir.” She answered politely, as she appeared from nowhere.
“I’m going to the office, and I am entrusting my dad with you, take care of him, and make sure he’s fine. If you need anything, or if anything happens, just give me a call.” I instructed, and she nodded. I finally left the house, and drove straight to the company.
After almost forever of driving, I finally got to the company, and drove inside, before stepping out of the car. I made to go to the building, when I heard a voice behind me, which sounded familiar, and tilting my head to confirm my curiosity, I was welcomed with the most despicable and disgusting person. What the heck!…
