Chapter 1180
Nina had guessed right. After leaving the doctor's office, Winona made sure someone leaked the news to Yvonne. By that afternoon, Yvonne had learned about her condition from a patient in the room next door. Kidney
failure.
Her whole world collapsed in an instant. It felt like a form of release, but deep down, she still had a lingering sense of unwillingness.
When she came back, she locked herself in the bathroom.
Nina received a call from the doctor and rushed to the hospital immediately. Before she could even ask, the doctor explained what had happened. There was no way the patient in the next room could have known about Yvonne's condition without someone stirring the pot. Nina instantly thought of Winona. Already harboring ill feelings toward her, Nina's anger surged. She stormed into Joe' hospital room and grabbed Winona by the collar, demanding, "Why did you do this? Yvonne has never wronged you. Why would you hurt her like this?" Winona signaled her people to pull Nina away. Once she was free, she sneered, "I don't know what you're talking about, Nina. I know you and Yvonne are close, but you can't just jump to conclusions every time something happens. I may not be perfect, but I'm not some nobody."
"If it wasn't you, how would Yvonne know about her illness?"
Nina tried to rush at her again, but Winona's people held her back. She struggled, desperate to give Winona a piece of her mind, completely forgetting she was pregnant and shouldn't be making such sudden movements.
Thankfully, Nash and Nigel arrived just in time. Nash saw Nina being held and rushed over to push the others aside, pulling Nina into a protective embrace.Content bel0ngs to Nôvel(D)r/a/ma.Org.
"If you touch her again, you're done for. Joe, control your wife," Nash growled.
Joe sighed, about to apologize when Winona cut in, "Mr. York, let's get something straight here. It was your wife who tried to hit me. If I weren't being kind because she's pregnant, do you think I'd just let it slide? You should be thanking me for, not harming her or the baby
"Is that so? Fine, you want to threaten me, huh?" Nash's voice was ice-cold.
He had been looking for a reason to stand up for Yvonne, and now Winona had given him the perfect opportunity. Right in front of Joe, Nash pulled out his phone and made a call, reporting Joe for tax evasion.
Winona panicked, but it was too late. She watched helplessly as Nash ended the call, her mind racing with a malicious plan.
"Mr. Turner, I'll make sure the documents get to the tax office. You brought this on yourself. Don't blame me for it," Nash said coldly, holding Nina close as they walked out of the hospital room.
Tears immediately welled up in Winona's eyes as she grabbed Joe's hand, her voice soft and pitiful. "Honey, I was going to tell them I'd found a potential kidney donor, but look at how they're treating us. They don't deserve our help." Joe' eyes lit up at the mention of a donor. He quickly asked, "Where's the potential kidney donor?"
Winona hesitated, shaking her head as if it pained her to say more.
"Tell me, Yvonne can't wait any longer!" Joe pressed, growing anxious.
Finally, Winona spoke in a soft voice, "That family lives on the south side of the city. They run a small
business but they can't afford to et
send their two sons to college, so they want to sell a kidney. One of my friends heard about it and told me."
She paused, then added with fake concern, "But honey, you're not
really thinking of going to see them, are you? My friend said they hold a grudge against us for something that happened before. They've always resented us, though they seem to appreciate Yvonne because she helped them once. At least, that's what they said."
Joe furrowed his brows. "So, if Yvonne goes to them, it would work, right?"
