Escape
I stared glumly as Brock studied the cave walls, there were no cracks or anything on the smooth cave walls, it looked like someone had found out the way and didn’t want to make it easy so the person cemented the walls.
“Maybe it’s not this cave” I said for the fifth time and as usual Brock kept silent, ignoring me.
“Since we are not going to have sex anymore, you can talk to me” I said and he turned sharply in surprise when I said that then he schooled his features into a scowl.
“I don’t have to talk to you” he said and I shrugged.
“We are not fighting, are we?” I asked and he looked away.
“No, but we should avoid each other,” he said.
“Why?” I asked.
“You are Logan’s mate for heaven’s sake, he chose you, I can’t be with you. Yes, I want you, so bad I want to rip your clothes and take you right here” he growled, “But I won’t”
He turned away again and resumed his inspection on the cave walls while at glared at his back, remembering how I had clawed at them the time we made love, I hated that I felt this way for him, maybe he was right, I was Logan mate I should have not even looked at him, but it was hard not to.
“Oh” came Brock’s deep voice, “The answer has been right here all this while, we are looking for chinks in the wall when we are werewolves, we need a scent of something different”
“We?” I challenged and Brock turned, he scowled. This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
“Do you want to stay here?” He asked and I shook my head. “Good” he boomed and turned sniffing as he inspected the cave walls again. He grinned that boyish grin that made me want to join him then pushed the wall through and dug his hand inside and fished for something until he brought out a map.
“Yes!” He yelled and turned to me, “We will be outta here soon” he tucked the map in his pocket and trudged outside, while I followed. Brock brought out pieces of meat and handed them to me.
“Get this ready. I’ll go hunt for apples” he said and I stood up, blocking his way, why was he going alone?
“I don’t understand you, why are you avoiding me?” I yelled. Brock glared at me.
“Get out of my way, Amelia. What we had that night was a mistake, it won’t happen again” Brock said, his voice was deadly calm.
“It wasn’t a mistake to me” I said, then something clicked in my mind and I forced a smile.
“I am pregnant” I announced and Brock reeled back, staring at me in shock.
“You are crazy” Brock growled and I shrugged.
“Call me whatever you want, we didn’t use protection that night, and I felt you spilling your seed in me, It was much you know” I taunted and Brock reddened making me smile inwardly.
“Liar” he growled, “You lie” he said again and I raised my brow.
“I am pregnant” I said, wishing inwardly that it was true. Brock stared at me, then he roared out in laughter.
“You think I am stupid? Werewolves would know when their kind is pregnant, I would hear the heartbeat, or smell the baby life’s force from here” he said and laughed harshly
“I……i……” I couldn’t find words to say, so I nodded, defeated and started a fire to roast the meat. Brock had made it clear that he didn’t want me and my profession of love. By the time I had finished cooking Brock had returned with a bag of apples.
“Eat up” he said, “I have a feeling the Quintus wolves know we have the map, they are going to attack, before we can escape” he took a bite of an apple and grabbed a chunk of meat from the plate I offered him.
“So what’s your plan” I asked and Brock was silent for a while, chewing his food then he stood.
“We would be outnumbered ten to one, we need to be on the run” he said and I nodded. Brock suddenly froze and sniffed, then he grabbed me from where I was and rolled away, seconds later the spot where I was sitting exploded as a grenade was thrown there.
Brock whipped out his sword and turned to me. “Grab the backpacks” he yelled and roared out in challenge and the entire sky darkened. I stared in awe at his display of power. We put on our backpacks and Brock grabbed my hand and took off.
“Run!” He yelled and I followed after, pumping my legs as fast as I could, behind us I could hear the baying and howling of wolves and I knew those rogue wolves were chasing after us in wolf form, Brock whipped out the map as he ran, he glanced at it.
“This way” he said, turning right and I followed him. The sounds of our pursuers were getting closer and I was beginning to feel tired but I didn’t dare stop knowing how ruthless those werewolves behind me were.
Brock stopped in front of a cave and turned to me.
“This is where it leads to the outside world, go! I’ll hold them off” he said and I shook my head.
“I can’t leave you” I said adamantly and he smiled.
“You have no choice, go back to Logan” Brock said with a determined smile. “I intend to destroy everything here with my mom’s legacy in me”
“Promise me you’ll come back” I said and he smiled warmly.
“Nothing can keep me from you, Amelia” he said and kissed me on the forehead and pushed me inside the cave, I tried to run back out but an unseen force pulled me backwards until I sank into oblivion
