Chapter 63
They left for a restaurant he had booked beforehand.
“You would like this restaurant I used to go there with Paxton when we wanted to have a brother time” he explained.
Jaxton wanted Sydney to know who he was both in and out as he had made up his mind he was not going to cheat on her because of how serious he had wanted to get with her.
“Oh that is nice” she responded.
Then he took his hand and placed on her hand she smiled at the gesture as she used her other hand and held his perfectly.
“I love when we are not fighting baby” She said to him and Jaxton just smiled and kissed her hand before turning to face the road.
When they got to the restaurant Jaxton got to restaurant he pulled out the chair for her and the waiter brought their food as he had already ordered from whence they were coming there.
After a few laughs and jokes he held her hand again.
“I love you Sydney” he said again and she smiled before she responded.
“I need to use the restroom but il be back so don’t miss me too much okay?” she said in a playful manner and when she did she just ran off.
In a bid to get to the rest room fast enough before she began to leak she bumped into someone.
“No, no I am sorry sir” she apologized as she was saying she decide to see who she had bumped into, it was Paxton.
“Paxton?” she called out surprised.
“Yes, what are you doing here?” he asked still not having the friendly smile on his face but at least he was responding to her.
“I came here with Jaxton he offered to take me out to lunch” she explained and as she explained she was thinking to herself why she kind of felt somewhat guilty for being out with Jaxton.
“Okay” Paxton replied and made to move and she couldn’t hold her mouth because she only realized she had asked the question.
“Did you have the meeting or you are here with someone?” she asked him before she used her hand to close her mouth.
‘Damn you don’t have to know what he was here doing can’t you see’ she mentally scolded herself. Her mouth was going to be the death of her for sure when it came to these brothers.Belonging © NôvelDram/a.Org.
“My client is waiting for me, so you both have and enjoy your lunch date” Paxton responded and turned and left.
The pee that she felt had been absorbed by the way she felt, she wasn’t pressed or needing the restroom anymore as she watched him walk off.
She took slow strides back to her table and met a smiling Jaxton, she decided to force on a smile but the smile was sure forced they didn’t reach her eyes.
How could she be fixing things with one brother and then another seemed to be mad at her? This was frustrating.
The next thing she did was tell Jaxton whom she had bumped into.
“I thought ladies use forever in a bathroom when they need to” Jaxton asked in a playful tone.
“Not this woman then” she reciprocated his playful antics.
“I bumped into Paxton seems he had an appointment with some client” she explained waiting to see the reaction on Jaxton’s face but he was neutral hence she dint know how to continue what she wanted to say.
“The shrimps taste super good” she said to divert his thoughts because she could tell he was in deep thoughts.
She could not help but tell him she had met his brother because of course she was scared of what the outcome might be should it be he found out she had met with his brother.
Knowing Jaxton he just might have said she had intentionally planned to meet his brother at the restaurant so she had to say something.
When they were done with the food Jaxton saw his brother taking long strides towards their table but he didn’t look like he wanted to join them.
In a bid to make everything seem calm and cool Jaxton beckoned his brother.
“Hey man Sydney tells me you were with a client?” he asked and his brother answered.
“Yes and we are done I am just waiting for my Uber since I didn’t drive myself here” Paxton explained as civil as he could.
“You could join us, we are done too just waiting for Sydney to get done arranging herself” Jaxton explained.
Paxton followed them into the car as he sat in front with his brother and Sydney sat behind quite uncomfortable because she knew there was tension in the car. It could be felt the tension was so stiff that it could be cut with a knife if possible.
The drive was a quiet one just the radio playing and the silence that could enable a needle being heard if it had to be thrown into the vehicle.
“So what did you discuss with he client?” Jaxton asked once again breaking the silence.
“Confidential stuff” Was all Paxton responded.
“Okay cool” Jaxton said as he continued his drive to the office after the green light shone.
The drive took ten minutes but to Sydney it felt like twenty four hours of torture.
When they got to the company packing lot Sydney did not wait for any of the brothers as she hurried into the office. She didn’t want to be embarrassed again as she had been for two working days straight because of her association with Paxton.
Plus she knew with the way they had been having strain conversation the next could be about the incident that had happened for the past days and she had tried her best to avoid that she wasn’t in no mood for that.
She had to avoid dram at all cost.
