Chapter 15

The Dance II

Elina opened her eyes, seeing the familiar surroundings of her room, small pinky with a slash of blue, she was back here again, in her own space, she turned slowly, so she doesn’t end up hurting her already injured self. She sniffed the air. So good to be back. Her hands sneak under the pillow, searching for her phone.

What the….

She hadn’t taken it with her, she left it at the mansion.NôvelDrama.Org: owner of this content.

How could she be so careless. Her phone comes first. She was supposed to call Barbra, tell her she’s back. And Ray. Got to see him again. Beside he got beaten because of her, she had to see them, especially Ray, her best friend. She missed him so much. That she keep thinking about him.

Ray.

She cuddle her pillow. Smiling to herself. She could get to confess to him again, she was very sure he wasn’t going to turn her down like the other time. She sighed. Couldn’t wait to get a little better and March down to his apartment, and hug him, till he was out of breath. And sleep over, like the normally does.

Talk all night.

She missed those moments, when they were together, he was her first love.

“Oh Ray. I’m back.”

“You’re ne’er getting out of here!” She twitched her neck to the side. She heard his voice, dark and cruel. How did he…? It’s probably her hallucinating, he couldn’t be here. She chuckled and still glance around. His voice gives her shivers. A bad aura he held, she slapjacks herself.

“Stop thinking about him.”

But his face, when he looked down at her, that night on the party, she could decipher something in there. What was it?

Lust!

Crazy ass billionaire. He was full of secrets. Deep dark dangerous things. People she classified as Evil men, people Susan had warn her to stay away from.

“Your daughter went so far, this time mom, so far, she thought she would never be home again.”

She’d to dress like one of those sluts. She doubt she looked disgusted. But he liked it, seeing her in those skimpy dress.

“Tsk. I’m getting my life back mother, never going back there again, apologize to Carol and get my job back. Just a few days.” She sighed.

“Ain’t gonna think about that man again!” She scolded herself. But behind those dark eyes of his, there seems to be a little concern in there, she did sense some empathy, how he treated Aziel, and how he took her out of the club that night. Petting her to stay awake. Maybe there was something more to him, that she doesn’t know off, maybe he was putting on a facade, behind that hard look was a soft heart.

“Get hold of yourself Elly! It shouldn’t be your business anymore.”

She covered her face with the pillow.

I won’t think of him. Tonight was the dance, are they there already? I wonder what would happen?

“I just said I won’t think of him, what’s wrong with me.” She buried her head in the pillow. After a while. She pushed the pillow and looked at the pizza and pies, Ezra ordered and the pile of drugs she was gonna take. On her table and a list of dos and don’t. For the week. And an envelope. She stretched her hands a little, taking it from the table.

“How come, I’m just seeing this.” Inside the envelope was cash. And a note, she took the note out and read out.

“FOR THE WORK DONE” what the fuck, I’m almost died, and this is all I got, not even a briefcase. Or a bag, just this envelope. For everything, really, Kenzo, you really are a cruel fucking bastard! Greedy prick. I’m so pissed right now.” She stared down at the envelope again, taking out the money and began counting them.

“Hundred thousand bucks. What would this do? I’ve a lot of expenses.” She almost cried.

“If I ever see you again, I would tear you to pieces.” She tore the envelope and the note.

Bastard!

She whine, feeling a slight pain. She quickly took the pills and sip from the glass of water.

Just wait till she gets better.

I’ll show you!

she clutched her fist.

Aziel hurried towards the car door and opened it, so Kenzo and Zara would come out. He was dressed in a black suit and a black bow tie, and his hair was gel backwards, Everyone in the parking lot, turned to the car expecting him to come out, and he came out graciously. Like a king that he was.

They bow. And gave way for him to walk pass. He walked ahead of Zara who struggled with her long red gown that swept the earth around her, as it got stocked with the car door.

“Wait up, Kenzo.” She yelled.

“Shouldn’t being doing that to your fiancé.” She said to get everyone attention, and it did work, as they began whispering. She chuckled lightly. Causing up a mix reaction among them and soon the news would spread around the party and everyone gets to know. She turned to meet Kenzo hard glare, choking her alive.

“What was that for?”

“You’re eventually getting married to me, what’s the big deal in it.” She gave him her hands.

“We’ll walk together. As a couple. Into the dance.” She blew him a kiss.

Kenzo gave her a disgust look, which Zara hadn’t expect. Aziel chuckled behind him, and just like that, Kenzo walked into the dance alone, Zara hurried up with her dress, pulling it up with her to keep up with Kenzo, but there was no way, she could meet up with him, he was walking so fast, and with her heels, she tried not to hurry so fast, else she might slip and fell on her face, and Kenzo won’t give a damn, he won’t even look her way or give her a lifting hands.

She just can’t understand him.

Chief Brennon was the first person they saw, talking with his wife, Kenzo thought the dance was just for the members but he was wrong, it was so much more than just a dance, everyone he knew seems to be here, the investors, the board of directors in the company, and a lot others. He wasn’t expecting to see.

“All hail the king!” Hazard yelled from the far end of the garden, with clear mockery in his voice, the party was held at lord Gilbert house, as at now, everyone was at the garden with a glass of wine on their hands.

They all twirled to the entrance where, Kenzo marched in. They all stare, He’s appearance differs. The aura he carries, the authority he commands with just his presence.

“Didn’t know you were gonna make it tonight, is she alive?” He laughed, and chugged down from the glass. Standing in front of Kenzo.

“Thanks to you.”

Hazard laughed louder. Brennon looked at him for only a second and looked away, like he hadn’t seen him at all.

“You got her too, little Zara. What a waste of time. See this man right here, he’s no good for you, I’m way better in bed. You could ask her..” he points at Sara, behind the corner.

“I can see you’re drunk.”

“I’m perfectly.. fine.” He slurred, taking another glass from the waiter.

“Father..” they turned to lord Gilbert who approached them. He shook hands with Kenzo. Glaring at Hazard who only smirks in return.

“Seems you’ll be accepting my proposal after all..” he pulled his ear closer to his ear and and whispered.

“You shouldn’t have done to, having an attack on Hazard was lame..” he pat his shoulders and drawbacks.

“I would have help you with it.”

“I don’t think there’s any need for that.”

“There would be. Enjoy the party.”

He walked away from them. Kenzo turned to Aziel. Giving him a signal. Aziel nodded and walked away.

“Let’s go.”

She linked her arms around his. Walking fully into the party. He didn’t want to talk to his father. There wasn’t any need to. If he doesn’t want to acknowledge him, he shouldn’t do it either. He walked past him with Zara. And stoped. He crane his neck a little, staring at the figure, fading into the crowd. Elina. It couldn’t be what would she be doing here. But the person he saw, had similar figures with her. Though it was just her backside.

Why was he thinking of her, there’s no way she could be here.

“Ladies and gentlemen, I have a very important announcement to make.” Lord Gilbert said, holding up a glass of wine.

“And tonight, am going to announce to y’all..” he had everyone attention now.

“That my daughter Zara, is getting married to our very own Kenzo Brennon.” He drop the bombshell.

“Cheers to that!”

“Cheers!”

He smiled at Kenzo, Zara blushed beside Kenzo. And smiled at everyone who stare their way. Aziel shook his head.

“This is a disaster.”

He had just openly declared war between them. He saw Brennon walking up to Kenzo, he moved forward. You couldn’t never tell what the old man was capable of doing. He leans close to Kenzo.

“You don’t toy with fire, boy. Cause it might consume you. Right in it.” He pushed him out of the way.

“This is just a warning.”

Chief Brennon was scary, and he did meant what he said, he saw Kenzo clutch his knuckles. He was angry, his face harden and his eyes dim. Then he feared for him. Kenzo was doomed to fail. He had no one on his side, even lord Gilbert was two sided.

That’s why he’s here, he was ready to give his all into the man that was doomed to fail from the start. But he had come this far to back down now.

They all fear Kenzo, more reason they gang up against him.

To kill him. And it was time to show them, they weren’t someone to deal with.

Not even his own father.

Brennon.
