Broken With My Mother In Law

Chapter 19

“Wait, I don’t know what these are, but they are definitely not the medicines I have taken. They smell like oranges or something.” Dylan poured out the pills in the bottle and sniffed them, saying they were not for anxiety.

“Are you sure?” I closed the drawer and stood up. It’s not anxiety medicine? How come? Then she didn’t sleep in the middle of the night or pretended. Who can stand it? I still don’t believe she will come to trouble me under the pretext of illness.

“Of course, I have eaten so much, how can I not tell?” Dylan answered in the affirmative.

“Let me see.” I took the bottle of medicine and smelled it. I can’t say anything, but I can ask my doctor friend to tell me. Isn’t this Diana anxious pills? How can she take medicine at random?

“Hi, Andy, this is Linda. I’m not working in Berthaire’s office this week, but I have a question. Oh, it’s about some medicine. Can I come over?” Andy is my colleague in Berthaire’s office. She should be off work by now. I can ask her for help.

So with that, our plan was canceled and I prepared to go out and meet with Andy.

I immediately went to my bedroom and changed my clothes. I didn’t even pay attention if it matches since I am in a hurry and I felt that it doesn’t matter anymore.

When I was done, I went outside and asked the driver to take me to the gate. From there, I hailed a cab. I am currently inside the cab and I felt like the time is not moving and we are moving at a very slow speed.

“Can we be faster than this, Mr. driver?” I asked the driver to hurry a little but of course, with great precautions. So with a nod, he stepped on the accelerator and sped up. All text © NôvelD(r)a'ma.Org.

“Urkk…”

I heard the sound of a car, forcing the break to be stopped. It’s a good thing that I wore my seatbelt when I entered earlier. If not, I would have pulled by the inertia and been thrown outside. When I looked around, I saw a scene.

There were a crowd of people in front and it looked like they were watching something on the ground.

“It looked like there was an incident Miss. Should we make a U turn or should we wait for the authorities to clean them up?” The driver asked.

I am contemplating whether to go back or wait. If we go back, it will take another 15 minutes then if we wait here, I don’t know how long the police could control the situation. Seeing that the best course of action is to go back, I answered the driver then texted Andy that I will be a little late.

I don’t know what to expect from me doing this. Should I just let my mother in law bully me or should I really fight back? I really don’t mind her impression of me anymore. I just don’t want Donald to be pressed in the middle in the future.

My thoughts were interrupted when I heard my phone dinged. I received a reply from Andy that it was fine and that she would wait. I sent a simple thank you then drummed my fingers on my thigh to relieve some anxiety.

Finally, the car stopped outside the building. So I quickly got my purse and paid the driver.

“Keep the change.” I said as I hurried out and almost ran inside.

I went to Berthaire’s office to find Andy and asked her to help me identify the ingredients and efficacy of the bottle of medicine. Andy said that it would take some time for the drug test to come out. Let me go home first, and she will contact me when the results come out. I have a faint feeling in my heart, but I can’t jump to conclusions without seeing the real results. Since there is time, it is no problem to wait.

On my way back, I looked like I had no energy already. I just walked outside with no direction at all. I couldn’t wait to get the results. I just walked until I found a shop. An ice cream shop to be specific. I immediately felt so thirsty but I knew that ice cream would not help at all. But I don’t care. I felt like I needed the taste of an ice cream in my mouth and that I would just buy a bottle of water inside.

“Mom, hurry! I want an ice cream now!” I heard a voice of a girl shouting. When I looked at my back, I saw a little girl, I guess 6 years old, holding the hands of her mother and pulling her inside.

“Just wait a minute honey. Let’s wait for your mama first okay?” The woman in her early thirties said with a soft tone of voice.

“But I want an ice cweam now.” The little one said with puppy eyes.

“Okay, let me just call her and tell her that we are here so that she will find us immediately okay?” The woman compromised. The little girl nodded vigorously with a smile on her face. I wish I was that innocent too. I just smiled at the scene then went to order an ice cream for myself.

” Hmm. ” I couldn’t help but moan when the taste of strawberry and chocolate hit my mouth.

“Is that flavor delicious?” I heard a little voice beside me speaking.

I was shocked that I almost jumped out of my seat then turned my head to look at the cute little culprit. It was the little girl earlier.

“Yes. Want to try?” I smiled then asked. She nodded her head again then opened her mouth.

“Want.” She said then pointed her little finger inside her mouth. I laughed then took a spoon of ice cream.

“Yum.” She said after I fed her some.

“Baby, what are you doing? It’s her ice cream. Apologize, now.” Her mother saw her and said to the girl.

“It’s fine, miss. Don’t worry, I used a spare spoon and I really don’t mind it since she is just so cute.” I said to the lady.

She smiled at me and thanked me then together, they bowed to me and took their leave. I felt warm.

“Linda, I’m not feeling well today, so Fitz is going to take me to see Dr. Chamberlain.” When I was cleaning my room, I heard Diana say she was going to see a doctor. The opportunity came at a good time.

“Well, take care.” I cleaned up in a hurry.

“Let’s see where you have been.” I saw Fitz driving her away from the window, and I decided to follow them and find out if she was really not feeling well and went to see a doctor.

Linda’s POV

I followed them all the way, wearing a pair of sunglasses, afraid that they would be embarrassed if they were recognized. Sure enough, they just came to a clothing mall and didn’t go to see a doctor. Diana and Fitz each carried several parcels in their hands, with smiles on both of their faces.

“Where is Prada City?” I heard Diana ask Fitz, turning her back. They were in the excitement of buying clothes and didn’t notice me.

“Prada?” Fitz followed her, carrying a lot of things.

“You know, saying ‘what’ is also acceptable.” I took off my glasses, looked at the excited two people in front of me, and continued to follow them.

I was sitting in the car outside, staring in one direction, where Diana was. “Wait, Dr. Chamberlain?” I wiped my eyes and looked at them carefully. I saw Diana seemed to be flirting with Dr. Chamberlain or something, touching her face, talking and laughing. Shouldn’t they be in the hospital now?

Ring… ring… ring.

The ringing of the phone scared me to take back my eyes at them. I looked at my phone and found that it was Andy. I answered it immediately then my eyes went back to the people inside.

“Hello? Hello, Andy, have you found out what that bottle of medicine is? Chewing vitamin C, huh? OK, thank you.” Sure enough, I didn’t wait for nothing, at all. I gritted my teeth and looked at Diana and Dr. Chamberlain. Oh, yes, and Fitz. It was incredible that the three of them joined forces to hide from me and others. Diana, who said she had anxiety disorder, had been taking vitamins that were harmless to her health. So, did she have any so-called anxiety disorder at all?

So I went to the local library and checked about anxiety disorder. If there is also a disorder that one will fake their illness and what might be their reasons. Maybe, I can understand her or use it against her. We might not know. When I was there, I immediately went to the psychology section and checked for books.

And sure enough, I found one.
