Blind Date Turned Proposal

Chapter 1380 Missing The Review

When Laura heard those words, her hand paused as she was picking up food.

Josie quickly grasped his underlying message. Looking at him with a hint of anticipation, she asked, "Is it possible?"

"Of course," Mark responded.

"I've been quite busy these past few days, so I'm not entirely up to speed with the situation. I'll go over now and take a look."

Josie rose quickly, grabbing her bag from the couch as she made her way out. She was still wearing the long rose-colored dress from earlier in the day.

Mark shook his head. "She's so eager."

Laura was somewhat restless. "Dad, have you met the kid yet?"

"Indeed, I've met her. She's a very well-behaved little girl."

"I didn't know that," Laura replied, her expression strained.

Claudia served her some vegetables and said, "Didn't you also keep us in the dark about that girl before?"

Unable to argue, Laura nodded with a bitter smile.

When Russell Group was being investigated, the atmosphere in Russell Mansion was extremely tense.

Josie's car pulled up at the entrance of the mansion. Unexpectedly, she ran into Preston. He emerged from the mansion, his arms cradling a box of documents, ready to get into his car. Josie briskly stepped forward, calling out his name loudly.

He came to a halt and turned around, squinting his eyes. "What are you here for?"This material belongs to NôvelDrama.Org.

"The question should be directed at you. With Russell Group under investigation, how can you move around freely?"

"Thanks to you, before this, Mr. Russell had ordered me to take a leave of absence to reflect on myself, which conveniently caused me to miss the review."

He seemed to express regret in his tone. Josie frowned. "Do you know the specifics?"

Preston remained silent for a while.

His face was a clear display of unmasked anger and irritation. "You've already paired up with the boss of Eccentric Corporation, and you still have the time to worry about these things." S

"I'm really not in the mood for a verbal sparring with you. I just want to know where Dexter is now, and how he is doing?"

"I'm not sure, but the entire Russell Group is under investigation. The final verdict hasn't been reached yet, but I'm afraid things don't look too promising."

"I heard that Dexter has taken a backseat these past few years, leaving you to manage the affairs of Russell Group. Don't you know whether the verdict would be favorable or not?"

Preston was frustrated. He tossed the documents into the car and said, "I wish they would come and investigate me, interrogate me. The real issue is that they're hell-bent on getting Mr. Russell into trouble!"

Josie became quiet after she heard those words. Mr. Peeple has yet to respond to my messages. I guess he has also been taken away. Well, everything makes sense now. Now, I know why Mr. Witherspoon said they would be targeting the financial aspect. Presumably, the investigation is focused on the financial situation in the past instead of the present. The origins of wealth are seldom untainted. Seeing her confusion, Preston suddenly thought of something. "The last time I was taken away, the city's mayor was also under investigation, and I heard you were also involved." "Are you talking about Charles?"

A glimmer of hope flashed in Preston's eyes when she mentioned that name. "I suggest you seek him out," he said.

Swiftly, without any delay, Josie made a call to Charles.

Actually, it was quite embarrassing. She had already caused him too much trouble in the past.

The call was answered by the assistant, and Josie stuttered, unable to finish her sentence. However the assistant respectfully said, "Mr. Zimmerman has already given me instructions. I will send you an address. All you need to do is come."

Jiang breathed a sigh of relief.

Under normal circumstances, during the review period, no one was allowed to visit, even if the city mayor intervened. There was simply no way around it. Despite all personal feelings, Charles had indeed done his utmost.

Josie couldn't meet Dexter. Her car was parked outside a hotel, with the hazard lights on.

The assistant mentioned that it was the fourth room from the left on the third floor of the building. Dexter was being kept there.
