CHAPTER TWENTY THREE
“It is fine, so what was it that you wanted to ask me?” Nicole asked as she sat down on my bed.
“I have been concerned about where you were last night after you ran out from the counter,” I asked Nicole.
“Well, I cannot certainly remember, all I knew was that I woke up on a man’s bed,” Nicole replied, and I did not just want to believe what she said.
“So… you did what?”
“Tell me you are joking right now,” I asked her.
“Hell no, I am not joking, why would I even joke about such a thing?”
“I was as shocked as you are right now,” Nicole explained.
“Hmm, so who was the person that took you in for the night?” I requested because I needed to know.
“I don’t know, but when I woke up, I saw a handsome man lying with me on the bed, he was so cute, and you know what? He was just sleeping peacefully, like he did not bring in a stranger into his house,” Nicole said as she blushed so hard and his cheeks already had a faint color of pink.
“Wow, that is to say that he must be really nice to take in a strange drunk woman into his house, clean her up, and not have such an evil intention towards you. I am beginning to sense something,” I said, and I was really happy that no one hurt her while she was drunk.
“Yeah, me too, like seriously, I have been thinking, Who on earth can take a drunk woman home without touching her or having sex with her?”
“I am thinking that he likes me because that is the only thing that can make a man act like that,” Nicole stated as she hoped the man had something for her.
“Exactly, I get your point, and I also hope that he likes you, because with that, you would move out of the singles group,” I told Nicole as we both laughed.
“Well, let us not just rush into conclusions because I did not even get to talk to him.” Nicole said bluntly as I looked at her in shock.
“What! What do you mean by that, Nicole? that you did not do what?” I asked continuously without giving her a chance to respond to any question. “Yeah, I didn’t, and it’s not like it was my fault, when I woke you, I saw at first that I thought I was in my room, but when I turned, I saw a man sleeping close to me, and I wanted to shout until I glanced around the room and found out that I was not in my room,” Nicole said, as I was so speechless and did not even know what to say to her.Content protected by Nôv/el(D)rama.Org.
“And I was late for the meeting I was supposed to host at work this morning,” Nicole added as she took a deep breath.
“I had to hurry up and leave without waking the man up, and I had a reason for that, I might wake him up, and I know for sure that he would probably start asking me some questions, and I did not want that, like I said, I was already late for work,” Nicole finally said as she got up from the bed and continued helping me with the packing.
“I really do not know what to say right now, but you did not do well. I am telling you that because that man helped you out when you were drunk, okay, that means you did not even appreciate his kind gestures towards you,” I argued.
“Well, I did appreciate him, but I wrote it down on a piece of paper,” Nicole defended herself immediately.
“And you are proudly saying that you appreciate that young man with a note written on a piece of paper, Gosh, Nicole, I cannot believe you did that,” I said to her, and with the expression on her face, I knew that she was really sorry for doing that.
“Tina, I am sincerely sorry for doing that, but I know that with the note I left behind, the young man will understand that I had to leave in a hurry and that I did not want to disturb him from sleeping, but I promise you that I will look for him and appreciate him properly,” Nicole promised me.
“Okay, I am not upset with you, but make sure you do so, because that man would have started looking for you or something like that, just make sure you appreciate him properly.” I advised her to do that because that was the right thing to do, and if I were the one she did that to, I would never want to see her again.
“I just hope he understands and forgives you if he is upset with you,” I said to myself as I massaged my head vigorously.
“I’m sure I will look for him and thank him as well as apologize to him for leaving like that,” Nicole said as she smiled.
“Okay, it is already after six, and I have to be there by seven this evening, so come and drop me off,” I requested from Nicole.
I really enjoyed the happiness, arguments, and tears we shared between ourselves today, and with that, I knew this friendship was worth it and would last till death do us part.
“Of course, let us start going, I pray we will meet up before the traffic starts,” Nicole said as she zipped up the box and carried it outside. I followed her with a handbag I was carrying. “I hope so too,” I said.
When we got out of the house, Nicole placed my box in the backseat of the car as I turned to look at my house for the last time.
To be sincere, I would miss this house so much, but eventually I will get over it.
“Nicole, I am going to miss this house and everything,” I told Nicole, and she turned as well as she stared at the house.
