30. Her Only Option
Alexander Bell tried to pull a few more strings from the top of affiars of the country but they were all pulling back from the case. Since Drake Bell was involved, there was no one in the entire country who dared to get involve.
An hour had passed and Alexander Bell, Mason and Lily were now out of the station. “I’ll tell Mason to get a lawyer for you.” Alexander Bell said to Lily.
“Will Ella be vindicated, sir? I don’t want her to go to jail,” Lily almost cried.
“I can’t guarantee that. The easiest way to get her out is to let Drake Bell help. But if Drake Bell isn’t willing, we can only hope my lawyer will do justice,” Alexander Bell said.
Lily’s mood fell flat. Does that mean Drake Bell is more influential than Alexander Bell?
As if Alexander Bell knew what she was thinking, he said, “Drake Bell lived most of his life here, it’s okay if he has more connections than I do. I lived in the other part of the world for most part of my life. Try not to worry too much,” afterwards, Alexander Bell lead her inside her car and watch her drove away.
“Sir… we can’t win this case no matter what,” Mason finally spoke since Lily was no longer there.
“I know but we still have to act.” Alexander Bell said. Soon, both men got inside the car and drove off.
Instead of going home, Lily drove angrily to Mila’s house. Afterall, Mila and Amelia live in the same house. Honestly, a part of her was telling her that Alexander’s lawyer will only fulfil all formality by appearing in court and defending Ella but can never win the case since Drake Bell was already involved. Does that mean she will have to beg Drake Bell or what?
Soon, Lily got out of her car and walked towards the mansion, as she approached the door, she could hear merry discussions of two women. When she got closer to the door, she leaned her ears closer to the door to see if she can pick up something from their conversation.
“I told you to always trust me. As long as I’m alive, I’ll always get your back,” Mila said.
“Thank you, mum.” Amelia said. Definitely they were talking about the success of Ella’s setup. She pushed the door open angrily and on appearing, she spoke, “how vile could the both of you be?”
“Even you, mum? Can I even call you ‘mum,’ huh? You set up an innocent woman who is just healing up for murder… Is this how desperate you are to see me leave NewYork?” Lily asked.
Amelia wanted to speak but Mila stopped her, she then signalled for her to go inside. Amelia stood obediently and walked away.
“Don’t pour your frustration and anger on my beloved daughter, you can say all you want on me,” Mila said and added, “by the ways, I don’t know what you are talking about.”
“You don’t? Are you pretending now? Let me tell you, I won’t leave New York and I definitely won’t leave Drake Bell’s villa so you better do your worse.” Afterwards, she walked out.
Mila then called Amelia back to the living room, “mum, why didn’t you want me to talk?”
“She may be here to get us on tape. She can easily play whatever we say here to the cops. We have to be smart.” Mila said.
“True… Ha, mom, you are so smart…” Amelia praised her mom.
Once Lily got home, she knew she needed to find the only person left who can help her friend. When she found the butler, she quickly asked, “has Drake Bell come home yet?”
“No, miss. He’ll be at the hotel this night,”
“Hotel?”
“Not what you are thinking, miss. He’s having a meeting with some business partners this midnight at Evan’s Hotel. This belongs © NôvelDra/ma.Org.
“So he won’t be back till when?”
“I don’t know much about his schedule, ma. That’s all I know but his assistants knows better. If you have any of his assistants call line, you may call them,” the butler said.
Lily nodded and walked away from him. She sat in the living room dejectedly. If it was someone else plotting against her, she might not feel this much pain but these people were her family. Amelia was her half sister while Mila was her biological mother yet they would go any length to force her to do what they want.
Of course she wants to leave Drake Bell’s villa too but Drake Bell wasn’t releasing her, but now that her parents are proving to be desperate, she won’t leave here anymore. Although she had been living under the same roof with Drake Bell, she despised him and let him know it at every moment they have an encounter but it seems she will now intentionally get closer to him just to see her mother and her halfsister cry endless tears.
She was so restless. Ella who was innocent is now being framed for murder by her family, is it not better for her not to even meet Ella? It’s as if she’s bringing many unfortunate incident on Ella. Firstly, she got fired then she had an accident and now she’s being framed for murder, and it’s all because she got close to her.
Lily picked up her phone and texted Drake Bell, “We need to talk.”
However, even after an hour had passed, she didn’t get a response from him.
Then she humbly texted him again, “we need to talk, please…”
Two hours passed and it was already midnight, yet Drake Bell didn’t respond.
She still wasn’t able to sleep and was still in the living room. She then called his line not caring if he’s in a meeting or not.
Drake Bell was in the middle of a meeting when his phone began to ring. Of course, he received the previous two messages from Lily but he intentionally ignored.
“Excuse me ladies and gentlemen,” he said and answered the call. Everyone in the meeting were a little surprised cause when they were commencing the meeting, Drake Bell had said that everyone should put their phone in silence and that no one must answer any call but here was the boss himself, breaking the rules. Seems the rules doesn’t affect those who make it, does it?
“I’m in a meeting,” Drake Bell spoke to the phone before Lily could even say a word.
“The butler told me but you aren’t answering my call… We need to talk, please. When will you come home?”
“You were away from home for two days and didn’t see any reason to inform me.” Drake Bell reminded her.
Lily honestly didn’t see any reason to tell him about her whereabout cause why should she tell him? She’s not her husband nor her boyfriend? She owes him no explanation about where she goes. “Well…”
“You didn’t see any reason to, I know. I’ll be home in an hour.”
“Okay,” Lily said, afterwards the call came to en end.
An hour and thirty minutes later, the door opened and Drake Bell walked in. He was surprised to see Lily sitting in the living room. Lily waited until he came closer.
“You are welcome.”
Drake Bell saw how dull her face is, he guess that it could be because of the predicament that befell her friend. He sat opposite her and set his cold face on her.
“Ella is being framed up for murder…”
“I already know that,” Drake Bell answered.
“Please help,” Lily requested.
“Why should I?”
“Because you are the only one capable of helping… Alexander couldn’t. Please,” Lily apologized. She quickly added, “I’ll do anything for as long as you can help. Ella is into this mess because of me.
“Since you will do anything to get your friend out then I need you to sign this,” Drake Bell brought out a letter from his box and handed it over to her.
When Lily read through it, she saw that it was a contract marriage agreement, she smirked, “you want to marry me again?”
“If you see it like that. It’s the only way I can get rid of Amelia. Did you not know that if I eventually have the wedding with Amelia then she will become the mother of your kids,” Drake Bell said, giving her reasons why she should sign the marriage agreement.
“I can’t marry someone I have no feelings for,” Lily said. She added, “marriage is a lifetime commitment.”
“Then I can’t help your friend,” Drake Bell said and stood, about to walk away, Lily walked up quickly to him and stood before him, she breathed in deeply and after letting it out, she held his right hand, “Drake Bell, don’t be so ruthless to me. You can punish me all you want but please help my friend.”
Drake Bell looked at her soft petite hands that was holding onto his. “Why should I punish you?” He removed his hand from her grip then held her instead. He pulled her closer gently then moved his face closer to hers as if he was about to plant a kiss on her lips. Lily didn’t adjust her head back at all, she just remained standing still as if she wouldn’t mind his lips getting planted on hers. “If Alexander could help, you won’t be here.”
“You can tell me what else you want and I’ll do it but I can’t sign an agreement to marry you. Never!” Lily said. She can never imagine herself getting married to Drake Bell again.
“The only thing I want is your heart,” Drake Bell said softly and moved his lips even closer to hers, “Hope that the lawyer Alexander is getting for Ella will help her to get vindicated. Goodnight, Lily.” Then he pulled his head back and began to walk away.
Lily wanted to follow after him but stop. She’s his greatest priority and that’s obvious. He wants her more than anything in the world. But it’s not in this lifetime that she will give his heart to him again.
Since Drake Bell isn’t willing to help, she will rather hope that Alexander’s Bell lawyer would justify Ella at the court, afterwards, Ella is innocent. It will be a risky move but unfortunately, that’s her only option.
