Chapter 26 You Are Really Not Ashamed
Gwenyth turned her face away and didn't look at him.
His bath water was ready and she got up and deliberately walked around Edison to get out.
"I'm asking you to help me take a bath."
He had his shirt half off, but his left sleeve was stuck to the cast that was thicker than his arm.
Gwenyth didn't bother with him and walked out the door.
"Miss Lovelace, can you hear me?"
"Yes, I heard you. Wait a minute."
She left the master bedroom and went downstairs to the kitchen. After a quick search, she returned to Edison's room with a roll of plastic wrap in her hand.
Seeing that Edison had failed to take off his shirt completely, she went up to him and tugged on his left sleeve. But she couldn't get it off, so she looked up and asked him, "Can I use a pair of scissors?"
Edison laughed softly, but Gwenyth didn't know if he laughed because he was angry or because he was amused by her words.
He raised his right hand, grabbed the sleeve of his left arm, and ripped it off with great force.
With a crunching sound, the entire sleeve was ripped off and he dropped it to the floor along with his shirt.
Gwenyth pulled his arm with the cast up and wrapped it in layers of plastic.
Edison just looked at her calmly.
She had a lot of tricks up her sleeve to avoid helping him shower.
"Aren't you here to take care of me?"
"But not to help you take a bath."
Edison was not embarrassed, but she would be.
Layers of plastic wrap were wrapped tightly around Edison's cat on his left arm.
Gwenyth took the towels and washcloths out of the cupboard and placed them where Edison could see and reach them, "There shouldn't be anything else you need my help with.
"I can't rub my back."
"Oh," said Gwenyth, turning to walk out the door.
"I said I can't rub my back."
He said with emphasis, "Stay. Help me with this."
"You're really not ashamed."
"..."
Gwenyth left quickly, closing the bathroom door behind her.
She went into the guest room next door, which was large and spacious and had its own bathroom.
It was probably bigger than the place she and her family lived in now. Yet it was only a guest room, and Edison's room was even larger than this one.
She opened the closet and found a lot of dresses hanging with the tags still on. They were all new.
She looked down and found a row of high heels on the bottom shelf of the closet. She crouched down and picked up a few pairs. They were all size six and a half. He had these shoes bought in her size.
She put the shoes down and stood up. She flipped through the dresses in the closet and luckily found nightgowns.
She took off one nightgown and went into the bathroom to take a shower.
After washing the sweat off her body, she felt so relaxed that she dried her hair a little with a towel. She stood in front of the mirror and opened a cabinet near the sink. There were all the toiletries and brand new skin care products.
She brushed her teeth and washed her face. After applying some toner to her face and rubbing her hair a little again with a towel, she walked calmly out of the room and fell onto the soft bed.
The mattress was thick and soft. After sleeping too long on the hard bed at home, she felt like she was on a bed of fluffy cotton. She felt comfortable both physically and mentally, but she never fell asleep.
When she heard the faint sound of footsteps in the hallway, she got up alertly, got out of bed, and walked briskly to the door. Then she locked it.
Edison had just passed the guest room and then heard the sound of the door locking from inside.
He stopped for a second and looked at Gwenyth's door. Then he walked on with a grim expression on his face.
What did that woman take him for?
Did she think he was a beast?
With his hand injured, he didn't want to hurt her.
He snorted with disdain, went downstairs to the kitchen, and took a bottle of water from the fridge.
He found that he couldn't unscrew the cap with one hand, so he took the water and marched upstairs to the door of Gwenyth's room.
He knocked on the door. When Gwenyth came to open the door, he immediately handed her the water in his hand, "Open it for me.
Gwenyth took the bottle without a look and unscrewed the cap. Then she threw the water and the cap at him one after the other.
Then she quickly closed the door and locked it.
Edison was speechless. Property © of NôvelDrama.Org.
Why was she watching him like a thief?
He walked back to the master bedroom with displeasure and took a sip of water. After placing the bottle on the nightstand, he picked up his cell phone and called his assistant, Andy.
"I had an accident. I won't be in the office tomorrow. If there are any documents that need to be signed, you can send them directly to the Moonlight Villa."
After handing over the work, Edison didn't rush to hang up the phone. He thought about the black car that had blatantly crashed into Gwenyth.
After a moment's hesitation, he told Andy exactly what had happened and where, and asked Andy to look up the car's information tomorrow.
...
The next day...
Gwenyth woke up very early.
After washing up, she randomly chose a dress from her closet and changed into it. After leaving her room, she unconsciously looked into Edison's room.
His door was still closed.
So he must still be in bed.
She cautiously went downstairs and into the kitchen to prepare breakfast.
The large, fancy refrigerator with double doors had plenty of ingredients. She picked out a few items and made a fried shrimp salad, some pancakes for two, and made coffee in the French press.
After making breakfast, she was about to go upstairs to wake Edison for breakfast. Just then, the doorbell rang.
She went to the front door and saw on the visual monitor that the person standing at the door was Nancy and Edison's grandfather, Ismael Yates.
Ismael was wearing a plain, nice suit. He was thin and had a cane in his hand. But he looked fine and healthy.
"Who is it?"
Edison's voice came from the direction of the stairs.
She turned and met Edison's deep eyes and said, "Miss Shandy and... Your grandfather."
"Open the door."
"Oh," Gwenyth said, opening the door.
Seeing her, Nancy froze for a moment, then helped Ismael into the house.
Ismael looked at Gwenyth for a few moments and saw Edison coming down from the second floor. He asked unhappily, "Who is that woman?"
Before Edison could answer, Nancy said, "The new maid.
Ismael didn't recognize Gwenyth. He looked at Gwenyth again and saw that the dress she was wearing was from a major brand owned by the Yates Group. How could a maid afford to wear his brand?
He didn't think Gwenyth was just a nanny.
But he thought Nancy was lying to save Edison's reputation.
"Help me sit down."
Nancy nodded and carefully helped him onto the sofa.
"Grandpa, are you tired?"
"I'm not."
Nancy kept a very gentle expression on her face. After helping Ismael sit down, she walked over to Edison, who came downstairs and smiled sweetly, showing her perfect white teeth, "Eddie, I took Grandpa for a walk this morning and he said he wanted to see you, so I brought him here."
After she said that, she noticed that Edison had a cast on his left arm. She rushed forward and said with a worried face, "What happened to your arm?"
"Fracture."
"How did it happen?"
"I fell by accident."
"How could you be so careless? When did you fall?"
"Last night."
Nancy wanted to speak some more caring words, but she glanced at the slippers with piggy patterns that Gwenyth was wearing. Then she frowned tightly.
Edison had actually prepared slippers for Gwenyth!
He had never allowed her to spend the night here, but he let Gwenyth stay here?
