Chapter 10 Put a Blanket on Her
Gwenyth wasn't sure if he was interested in her body.
She only knew that Edison's eyes had just been filled with lust.
For a moment, she was really afraid that he would suddenly pounce on her.
"It's good that you are not interested," said Gwenyth.
With a cold face, Edison turned around and went back to the sofa. As soon as he sat down, Gwenyth couldn't help asking, "Can you sit anywhere else? I want to have a rest."
She had suffered from serious insomnia and didn't sleep well the night before. After a whole day's work, she still had to deal with Nancy at night. Now, Gwenyth was exhausted. Even if there were only her and Edison in this suite and she needed to be careful, she still wanted to have a rest.
"Go to sleep." Edison stood up, went straight into the bedroom, and closed the door.
Gwenyth breathed a sigh of relief. She lay down on the sofa, put a pillow under her head, and stared at the bedroom door vigilantly.
After a long time, she really couldn't hold on and fell asleep.
She didn't sleep well and her nerves were still tense. The air conditioner in the room was turned low, and it was a little cold. She curved up. Suddenly, she heard two slight beeps and immediately woke up.
When she opened her eyes, she found that she had turned over after sleeping, with her face facing the sofa. She could smell a faint smell of leather.
The lights in the living room were off.
When she lay down, she was still very uneasy and didn't dare to turn off the light. It should be Edison who turned it off after she fell asleep.
The light around her was very dim, and her face was hidden in darkness. Only a beam of light shone on her from her back. It was very soft as if the light in the bedroom was on, and it came out through the door.
When she was about to stand up, a shadow was cast on her, and then a soft blanket gently covered her body.
A pair of big hands pulled the edge of the blanket and covered her exposed legs and feet. The blanket was not thick, but it could block the cold air from the air conditioner.
Gwenyth was a little surprised.
Only Edison and her were in the room. It was obvious that Edison was standing behind her.
Gwenyth thought to herself, "He's worried that I would feel cold in the middle of the night, so he came out to cover me with a blanket?"
When she was in a daze, the sofa suddenly sank and someone sat down.
Edison touched her head gently and quickly took his back as if he was afraid that it would wake her up.
Gwenyth didn't dare to move.
If she stood up at this time and faced Edison, the atmosphere would probably be a little embarrassing.
Gwenyth opened her eyes and pricked up her ears to listen to the sound behind her, thinking that if Edison did something impolite to her when she was asleep, she would immediately get up and slap him.
However, Edison just sat on the sofa for a while, stood up, and went back to his bedroom.
He closed the door. The light behind Gwenyth suddenly disappeared, and the living room fell into darkness. She slowly stood up and leaned against the sofa in a daze.
After she sat in the darkness for a long time, her eyes gradually adapted to the dim environment. With the moonlight through the window, she could indistinctly see the layout of the living room.
At the thought of Edison covering her with a blanket, Gwenyth didn't feel sleepy anymore and just sat there for a long time. When the day was about to break, she lay down, wrapped the blanket tightly around her body, and slept again.
When she woke up again, it was brought.
Although the sofa was made of leather, it was soft and comfortable to sleep on.
Gwenyth picked up her bag and took out her phone to check the time. It was almost nine o'clock. She was going to be late for work.
She quickly got up and straightened her wrinkled shirt while looking in the direction of the bedroom. The door was open, and the quilt was neatly folded. Edison was nowhere to be seen.
Gwenyth thought he must have left.
She tied her hair casually, picked up her bag, and walked out quickly.
It was over nine o'clock when she arrived at the hotel. She was late.
She rushed into the hall in a hurry and ran to the elevator for employees. When the receptionist saw her, she called out in a hurry, "Gwenyth, wait a minute."
Gwenyth stopped abruptly and looked back at the receptionist. Out of breath, Gwenyth asked, "What's up?"
"The director of the human resources department asked you to go to his office," said the receptionist.
"Okay, I see."
Gwenyth went to get clocked in, hurriedly changed into her uniform, and then went to the office of the director of the human resources department.
The room was smoky. The window was closed and the air conditioner was still on. As soon as Gwenyth entered the room, she was unable to open her eyes because of the smoke.
"Sir, do you want to meet me?" Gwenyth choked on the strong smell of smoke and coughed.
The director looked up at her and motioned for her to take a seat.
"Your salary for this month, including the deposit, has been transferred to your account," said the director.
Gwenyth was surprised. "Did I get my salary in advance?"
"No, I just did as Mr. Yates did. There's still a week before the end of this month, but I paid you the salary for the whole month. You can leave now."
"I-I was fired?" Gwenyth stuttered.
"Yes," responded the director.
"Why?" asked Gwenyth.
"I'm just carrying out Mr. Yates's order," said the director.
Gwenyth frowned and clenched her fists.
When Edison had covered her with a blanket the night before, she still felt that he was not as bad as she thought. But today, he fired her without telling her in advance.
She knew that the director had to follow Edison's order.
Without saying anything else, she turned around and walked out. Then, she went to the dressing room to change her clothes, packed her things, and left the hotel.
Indignantly, she walked towards the subway station and called Edison on the way.
It took a long time for Edison to answer the phone.
"Are you awake?" he asked in a soft and flat tone.
"Why did you fire me?" questioned Gwenyth.
Without answering her question, Edison asked, "Where are you?"
"I just left the hotel."
"Come to me."
Without waiting for Gwenyth's response, Edison hung up. Soon, he sent a text message with the address of a billiards club.
She rushed over and found that Edison was playing billiards leisurely, accompanied by John whom she had met at the Nightcharm Club the previous night. RêAd lat𝙚St chapters at Novel(D)ra/ma.Org Only
John looked Gwenyth up and down and found that she was still wearing the clothes she wore the day before. He smiled and said, "Edison, are you really serious?"
Edison hit a ball with the pool cue in his hand. With a light thud, the ball that was hit rolled into a hole.
Edison straightened up, changed his position, hit another ball, and made it enter a hole.
"You lost."
Edison put down the pool cue and turned to look at Gwenyth. Ignoring John's question, he walked straight to Gwenyth.
"Come with me."
Then Edison walked towards a door.
Gwenyth followed him into a room.
It was a small office with fashion and simple decoration.
Edison walked to the desk and sat down, lighting a cigarette.
"Why did you fire me?"
"During the term of the agreement, you have to be on call 7/24. Do you think you can continue to work as a room attendant?" asked Edison.
"I need to work."
"You got 1.35 million yesterday," said Edison.
"I can try my best to take some time off. I can even ask for leave when you need me. How can you fire me without asking me?" snapped Gwenyth.
Edison spat out some smoke and leaned against the back of the chair lazily. He looked at her with his deep eyes and smiled indifferently. "I'm the boss. Do I need your permission to fire you?"
