Ambighed... Ambushed...
Kelly's POV
"This is the school." Phoebe showed me the picture of the school she chose for Snow. The architectural character of the building was fascinating and it looked decent.
"It's a private school, Kelly. The curriculum is good and the teachers are all decent and professionals. Snow would like it there."
I smiled as I lifted my face to look at her. We're in my office and she came here after her class today to show me the school she chose.
"You think so?"
"Yes! The school is also not far from Pierce's company so you won't have to worry too much."
I nodded. "We'll enroll her there."
She smiled, very thrilled and pleased. "I'll come! The enrollment will start next week. So, after your wedding three days from now, I'll help Snow prepare for enrollment."
I nodded again. "That's good. Thank you, Phoebe."
She smirked and took her ipad back. I stared at her as she sat on the couch inside my office. She's still a kid. She was so scared when she realized she might get pregnant after what happened between her and Caleb. I know her fears and I'm happy that she's okay now. Also happy that what she's afraid of didn't happen. She's too young to carry a responsibility.
"Phoebe..."
She looked at me and smiled. "Hmm? You need something?"
"How are you these days? How's school?"
She tilted her head, crossed her legs and smiled at me. "I'm okay now. Thank you for worrying."
I stared at her for a few seconds before I nodded and smiled again.
I glanced at my wristwatch and realized it's already lunchtime.Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.
"Pierce's gonna come here to pick me up for lunch. You wanna come with us?"
She shook her head and smirked. "It's okay. I'll have lunch with my friends and I don't wanna disturb you
two."
"Hmm! Okay."
Pierce and I sent Phoebe to the place where she's meeting her friends. I made sure that no one's spying on her before we leave. Pierce even reminded her bodyguards scattered around not to let her out of their sight
Pierce drove his car again. He stopped when the traffic light turned red and while waiting, he grabbed my hand and kissed the back of it, I was watching him the whole time but my eyes went through him when I saw a man, riding a motorcycle, stopped beside the driver seat. He was wearing a helmet so I couldn't see his face.
I don't know why my heart suddenly raced and I feel scared when the man glanced at us as if he can see us through the heavily tinted window of Pierce's car. It's as if he knew who's inside the car and he's planning something.
Ambythed...
"Kelly."
I flinched and turned to Pierce. My lips parted when I saw him looking at me worriedly.
"You okay?"
I swallowed hard and took a slow breath.
"Yeah..." I answered with a hoarse voice.
I looked at the man again the same time the car moved. I pressed my lips together as the man showed up again.
Pierce's phone rang. He immediately answered the call and put it on the phone holder in front of us.
The caller is the officer in charge of the shooting incident at the mall.
"Hello, officer?"
[Mr. Anderson, sorry for the sudden call.]
"It's okay, officer. Any update with the investigation? Did the shooter reveal who paid him?"
[That's the problem, Mr. Anderson. The shooter can never speak about it again. He died this morning. He was poisoned.]
My lips parted as I looked at Pierce. He clenched his jaws and stopped the car. We're already in front of the restaurant where he made a reservation.
Pierce stared at his phone. "Are you sure, officer?"
[We rushed him to the hospital, but after trying, the doctor declared him dead.]
Pierce squeezed his eyes closed and massaged the bridge of his nose.
[I called to inform you about it and also to warn you. I suggest you leave the country with your family, Mr. Anderson. Now we confirmed that this is not an isolated case and your family, especially your wife is in danger. If her hunch was right, that her uncle was the one behind this crime, all the more you need to be careful.]
I gritted my teeth as Pierce held my hand. He continued talking to the officer when my eyes landed on the person behind the closed door beside the driver seat.
My heart raced as I gripped Pierce's hand.
"PIERCE!" I shouted and pulled him to hide when the man, riding a motorcycle, outside pulled a gun and pointed at the closed window of the driver seat.
A series of loud gunshots echoed in the whole area. The window of the car broke into pieces and fell on us as my shoulder sting and ached.
I heard people screaming along with the gunshots before all the noises stopped.
I can still hear the officer from Pierce's phone. He was already sending his men to our location.
"Kelly." I heard Pierce's broken voice as he held my shoulder, looking at my bleeding arm.
I looked at him worriedly. "Are you okay?"
He looked at me and shook his head. "How can I when you're bleeding?!"
He cupped my face, examining my whole body. "Are there any more injuries? How about the baby?"
I held his hand on my cheek. His eyes landed on my hand stained by my own blood and I witnessed how Ambuned...
his lips turned pale.
"I'm fine, Pierce," I whispered. He swallowed hard and kissed my forehead before he pushed the door of
the driver seat open.
He got out of the car and ran to the side of the passenger seat. I was afraid because I thought the man was still outside and thankful he got me out of the car safely. I roamed my eyes around to make sure that we're safe. There's a nearest hospital, so he ran there, carrying me in his arms as I could feel his heart racing inside his chest.
I'm fine. It hurts, but it will hurt more if I lose him today. Not today. Not tomorrow. Not this way.
