Chapter 10
Unexpectedly, Alicia realized that everyone on the table stopped dead when she withdrew her spoon. Over a dozen pairs of eyes were fixated on her as if they were watching a freak show.
Instantly, she was shocked and confused. What did she do? She had not even used her spoon to eat yet!
Hallie Clements, who was Frederick's half- sister, suddenly sneered.
"Oh my, Alicia, how did you become Frederick's wife? Didn't you know that he's germaphobic and didn't like others to touch his things? Besides, he never ate carrots."
Immediately, Alicia's head buzzed and she felt dizzy. What were the odds of it?
In the meantime, Penny Carter added fuel to the fire too. She shouted, "Hurry up! Change all the plates for Master Frederick!"
Everyone was waiting for Frederick to lash out and overturn the table. Yet surprisingly, he picked up the roasted vegetables gracefully and stuffed them into his mouth along with some carrot cubes.
It was a huge slap in the face!
The whole family was dumbfounded at this instant.
In the meantime, Mrs. Clements snapped, "Don't talk while eating! Pay attention to your food!"
Mrs. Clements gave a sharp remark but she narrowed her eyes and appeared satisfied as she stared at Alicia and Frederick.
After that, Alicia dared not make another move.
After finishing dinner peacefully, everyone was asked to stay for the night. Alicia was summoned by Mrs. Clements to have a conversation in private after holding casual conversations. Meanwhile, the rest of the family members dispersed.
Mrs. Clements told Alicia about Frederick's past and asked about their relationship. Basically, Alicia told the truth but she kept quiet about being pregnant. She was unsure whether Frederick was going to tell his grandmother, therefore she was cautious and did not spill the beans. Following that, she nodded obediently when Mrs. Clements urged her to have children.
It was not until ten at night that she was led to Frederick's room by the servant.
As soon as she closed the door, a cold voice said suddenly, "Throw them away!" NôvelDrama.Org holds text © rights.
"Huh?"
Alicia followed Frederick's gaze and realized that he was eyeing an envelope and a scarlet velvet box in her hand. They were given to his mother earlier, who told her that it was a tradition!
"Didn't you hear me?" Frederick asked sharply.
"But it's money..." Alicia replied. Did he just ask her to throw them into the trash can? These were money and jewelry! She could tell that they were expensive! Besides, who would not get along well with money? Why was he being so particular?
"Do you want me to throw you out with them?"
Frederick's voice was deepened and apparently, someone was angry!
With that, Alicia clenched the things in her hands and muttered meekly, "Throw me out then! I'll accompany Grandma!"
"How dare you threaten me?"
Immediately, Frederick's face darkened. Suddenly, Alicia recalled what Grandma told her. She said, "He is a wolf, hence you have to listen to him if you want to live!"
In an instant, she pulled a long face and placed the things she was holding on an inconspicuous cabinet at the corner.
"What right do I have? It's disgraceful to waste money. Let's discuss it. I will donate them tomorrow, okay? You have never been through a rough time, have you? There are people who are starving and they don't even have proper clothes. Furthermore, sometimes when they get sick, they will be kicked out of their homes. It's really unfortunate for them..." Alicia murmured sorrowfully.
Frederick listened as Alicia muttered to herself under her breath. He was annoyed and finally said, "Alright! You can do whatever you want!"
Round one, a complete victory!
Following that, two shallow dimples appeared on the corners of Alicia's lips when a white bath towel was slammed on her head.
Frederick commanded, "Go and shower! Don't dirty my bathroom, don't touch my things, don't leave your hair in the drain. Don't touch anything except for the things in the red box. Put everything back in the original position after using and don't mess them up. Don't leave any odor on your body, it's disgusting."
For a long time, all Alicia could hear were countless "don'f's but in fact, she was cursing him madly in her head.
