Chapter 14
Chapter 14
“I heard Jerome was injured, so I came to visit him. Mikayla, please don’t misunderstand!
A thought flashed across Kylie’s mind, and she quickly explained, “I had some documents for Jerome to sign. Mr. Blue told me about his injury when I went to his office. Jerome didn’t say anything to me.”
Mikayla didn’t even say a word. Yet, Kylie was worried about her getting the wrong idea.
Mikayla smirked. “Ms. White, let me give you a piece of advice. If you don’t want people to misunderstand you, don’t do things that might cause misunderstandings.
“For example, if you know a man is married, don’t come to his house without his wife’s. invitation.
“Even if you’re at someone else’s house, you should have the self–awareness as a guest. When sitting with another woman’s husband, maintain some social distance.”
Hearing Mikayla’s words, Kylie blushed. She hurriedly moved to the edge of the sofa.
“Mikayla, I…”
“Don’t address me like that,” Mikayla interrupted her, “I’m not that close to you. Don’t call me by my name.
“If you don’t want to call me Mrs. Miller, at least call me Ms. Davidson.”
“Mikayla, you should know when to stop,” Jerome warned Mikayla.
Was he defending Kylie?
Mikayla chuckled. “Did I say something wrong? Why should I stop?”
“Jerome, Mikayla… I mean, Mrs. Miller is right. I should’ve been more careful.”
Even though Kylie was embarrassed, she still tried to dissuade Jerome from getting
angry.
“Mrs. Miller, don’t be upset. I’ll leave immediately.” Kylie stood up to leave.
“Forget it.” Mikayla stopped her. “I’m the one who should leave.”
“Mikayla!” Jerome shouted at her again.
Mikayla couldn’t be bothered with him. She took her bag and left.
The incident from the day before still haunted Mikayla’s thoughts, so she opted to take a
taxi.
Eduard Davidson lived in the suburbs. It took nearly an hour to get there.
Mikayla felt her nose pricide when she saw her robust grandfather watering the flowers. in the yard. Tears streamed down her face.
She choked and called out with exeltement, “Grandpa…”
“Kay, why are you crying?”
Eduard dropped the watering can and quickly approached his beloved granddaughter.
Mikayla’s heart was filled with longing and regret. She couldn’t utter a single word. She simply sobbed in her grandfather’s embrace.
It felt wonderful to be able to see her grandfather again. Belongs to (N)ôvel/Drama.Org.
She didn’t have a father. Since birth, she had lived with her mother in her grandfather’s house. So, she carried her grandfather’s surname.
Her grandfather doted on her a lot. He accommodated all of her requests.
However, she had caused her grandfather a lot of distress in her previous life. Even when he passed away, she couldn’t see him for the last time.
“Kay, what’s wrong? Did that brat, Jerome, upset you?”
Eduard was both worried and distressed.
Mikayla had always been proud and lively. She rarely shed tears unless she felt very wronged.
Mikayla slowly stopped crying. With bloodshot eyes, she shook her head. “No, I just miss you too much, Grandpa.”
“Silly child.” Eduard was both angry and amused. “You can visit me anytime you miss. me. Why are you crying? Are you sure it’s not because of Jerome?”
“No! My life doesn’t revolve around him. I just miss you.”
Seeing his granddaughter acting cute, Eduard finally felt relieved.
“Alright, I’m glad to hear that. Spend more time with me today.”
“Okay.”
Mikayla clung to Eduard for the rest of the day,
She accompanied him to water the flowers, exercise, and do some drawing
Eduard was happy to have his granddaughter’s company, But he knew something had happened between Mikayla and Jerome. Mikayla hadn’t mentioned jerome’s name all
day.
“Mikayla, tell me what happened between you and Jerome?”
Mikayla continued painting as she asked, “Grandpa, would you support me if I get a divorce from Jerome?”
“Divorce?” Eduard was shocked.
His granddaughter liked Jerome so much that even he felt somewhat envious. Why would
she consider divorce?
“Did Jerome mistreat you? I’ll teach him a lesson.”
“No!”
In Eduard’s eyes, Mikayla and Jerome were a loving couple. They had no reason to divorce. So, Mikayla had asked tentatively.
Seeing her grandfather so angry, Mikayla quickly comforted him. “I was just joking, Grandpa!”
“Don’t make jokes like that!”
“Okay, I got it.
During dinner, Mikayla looked at the various delicious foods on the table. She couldn’t help but drool.
“Wow, there’s so much good food! I’m going to eat to my heart’s content!”
Eduard affectionately looked at her. “You’re such a foodie. Aren’t you on a diet anymore?
While chewing a piece of ribs, Mikayla shook her head. “No, I’m going to quit dieting. Food is love!”
“That’s right. You’re already so thin. Why think about dieting all the time?”
As they chatted and laughed, Mikayla heard some movement near the door. She turned her head, and her face fell.
