Anita’s Voice: Behind the Headlines

Tension

Chapter 18: Tension

“Oh My God! Kate where are you?” Anita screamed in her dream as she went in search of Kate all over her house.

Fear gripped her, causing her to scream so loud.

It was at the process of screaming that Anita woke up the next morning. She was soaked with sweat as she gripped her self and the bedsheets around her. Goosebumps was her as she thought about the dream she just had.

“No this was a nightmare. This was a fucking nightmare.” she caused under her breath as she poured out her heart and started crying.

“Kate where on earth are you right now. Please come close or even text me.” she said as she sat helplessly on her bed.

Who was going to help her?

Kate was everything to her here in New York City and nothing was ever going to replace her.

She then remembered Thomas response to her about Kate the previous night and thought if it as a bad idea to discuss same issue with him again.

Anita opened her phone and all she could see was the headlines about she and Thomas, but how was that important?

Weeks passed by and Anita still was not able to find out where her friend was. At that point, Anita had no more hopes, but still prayed that Kate would be well wherever she was.

During the past few weeks, Andre had been watching Anita as they performed their duties. For the past few weeks, they have been doing the daily jobs that were normal for reporters and there was no much drama. That alone made Andre relieved a bit.

He has tried to talk to Madam Cross earlier, but seeing how things was going round the company, he didn’t think there was any need to. Aside the peaceful jobs, there was something else that bothered him and that was Anita’s facial expression recently.

Keeping a dull face has never been a part of Anita ever since he knew her, so seeing her like that, he knew that all was not well.

After the day’s work that day, he walked to her office to check up on her before leaving and noticed that she was on her desk, with her face down.

She must be sleeping. He thought seeing as she didn’t made any move as he walked in.Original content from NôvelDrama.Org.

As he about to walk out, he heard some sounds like that of someone who was in tears.

Andre froze.

Impossible!

He thought to himself.

Immediately, he rushed to her to know what was wrong, but Anita didn’t raise her head.

“Anita! What is wrong? Talk to me.” he said to her.

Anita couldn’t speak. She just kept sobbing.

“Anita please talk to me. I don’t want you crying. At least not here. But tell me what is wrong, so that I can handle it.” he said to her, his voice shaking a bit, even though he tried to control it.

After spending some minutes there, Anita managed to raise her head, a bit shy at her condition, but it was not her fault, so she couldn’t blame herself for it.

“I am fine.” she managed to say, though a bit surprised that Andre would care about her.

“Don’t tell me you are fine when you are not. Stand up!” he told her and helped her up.

Anita stood up as he said. Andre took out a handkerchief and cleaned her tears. He then picked up her bag and held her as they left the office.

Outside the office, Madam Cross was just returning from a meeting when she spotted the couple coming close.

She was stunned.

After coming back to her senses, she walked faster to Anita and hugged her tight seeing how down she was looking.

“You are such a saviour Andre. I admire your kindness. Please take good care if her. You both can have off for the rest of the week and resume stronger again. Have a great time ahead dear Anita.” Madam Cross said to them and let Andre take her away.

The couple couldn’t believe what they just heard. They expected her to be extremely angry for breaking the rules if her company. Because according to the contract they read before signing, there was a part that said that workers of the opposite sex was not allowed to be extra close in the organization regardless of whatever it was that was happening and that was the main reason Anita tried to be very far away from Andre no matter how much she wanted to be so close to him.

“I should go home from here. Thank you Andre.” Anita expressed gratitude when they finally left the company.

She did not want to buy the idea of Andre taking her home, but Andre himself was not willing to let her be all by herself in her depressing state.

“I am going to be fine Andre.”

“I don’t care, but until I see you smile and genuinely, I have no intention of leaving you behind.” Andre said and took her straight to the simple car Cass had prepared for him.

Anita a bit surprised at the idea of Andre owning a moderate car. Looking at the model, it was quite expensive, so how did he manage to be under her as an assistant.

Despite her curiosity, she doesn’t speak it was necessary to ask questions then. All she wanted was to get home and with no drama.

Andre noticed the look on her face and gave a satisfactory smile.

If only she knew! He thought as he placed Anita’s head on his lap and shook his head.

Anita was already feeling like a baby to Andre as she fell so asleep.

“Oh my gosh! This girl is so cute.” He secretly said.

After a few minutes, they got to Anita’s apartment, and Andre princess carried her inside under some watch.

Not up to two minutes later, Thomas phone started ringing at where he was. He was so busy in the police station that it took him some time to be able to respond to these phones call.
