Anita’s Voice: Behind the Headlines

Got You!

Chapter 5: Got You!

How could someone call her and be acting to strange? She thought.

Being really pissed, she wanted to end the phone call when the person spoke up.

“Officer Thomas!” He answered after what seemed like forever.

Anita froze.

Officer Thomas? Wasn’t that the man she questioned not too long ago?

How did he get her number?

“Hello Sir! I didn’t realize that was you.”

“It’s fine darling.”

“How about we meet up for dinner? Bills on me!”Content © NôvelDrama.Org 2024.

“Dinner?” Anita froze.

She couldn’t remember anyone asking her for a date.

“OK sure! I mean why not.” she agreed immediately.

“I’ll come pick you up, just hold on.” he said, hanging up the phone.

Anita could not still believe she just spoke to that man.

Wow!

But why did he end the call when he had not even asked for her location? Was he so sure he could get to her?

As her thought ran, Kate came in.

“You are awake! How do you feel now?” Kate asked, checking her friend’s body temperature.

“I’m fine girlie, don’t be dramatic.”

“Guess what? That officer Thomas called me, asking for a date.”

“so what did you say?”

“I.. I accepted.” she said, stuttering.

“Why do you feel guilty for accepting? You deserve it you know.”

“I really do think I deserve happiness, but what will people think? You know he’s a public figure.”

“Yeah I do. You also are. Look, under a few hours you are making waves. Everyone’s commending you for your bravery.”

“I’m only doing my job as a reporter.”

“So did you hear the recent development?”

“what’s that?”

“Come on now, you know what I’m talking about?”

“I don’t think I do.”

“I’m talking about the guy I saw at Sass Media House. He lives next door. I heard he came in the day you came into this house.

“Oh OK then!”

“Just that? Well I think he’s cool.”

Anita then got dressed and waited.

Her phone rang. Looking at it, she picked it up.

“I’m at your door.”

“My door? Oh OK!”

How did he find her? She thought.

“Stop thinking, just go.” Kate said, pushing her slightly when she saw Anita thinking.

Atlantis Restaurant

Anita had never been to a better place than the one she was in. Looking around the luxurious building, she was amazed. Everything looked fantastic.

“Sit down.” Thomas said, directing her to a sit by the side of the restaurant.

“Wow! Here looks beautiful.” she said, complimenting him.

“Not as beautiful as you!” he responded.

Anita blushed.

“Hello Sir! Hello ma’am! Please make your order.” a waitress walked up to them, placing the menu on their table.

Thomas took it and made as much order as he could.

By the time the dishes were served, the table was filled up.

They then started eating. Thomas ate for a while, then paused and looked at her admiringly.

Anita didn’t notice until she looked up.

Blushing, she paused eating as well. Their eyes locked.

“I can make you the top best reporter in the whole of New York City. Do you believe me?” He asked looking at her.

Anita froze.

That was possible, she believed him. It had not been long she questioned him yet she was already all over.

She wondered what it would look like if she questioned him a few more times.

“I believe you officer Thomas!” she replied, smiling.

“From today, I’ll be providing you with information. You will be relevant to this nation and to your company. The only thing you have to do is question me, making my image look good to the public. Do you like that?”

“Oh my goodness! Thanks a lot Officer Thomas. I really do appreciate this.”

“Just call me Thomas.” He said, monitoring her reaction.

How is she so easy? He thought.

He had never seen someone so easy to convince.

Anita was over the moon. This was the best she had gotten so far, she could not wait to go home and present the news to Anita.

“Take a look at this file. This should keep your company busy for now.” He said, bringing out a document and handed it over to her.

Anita froze.

Seeing how shocked she looked, he smiled.

“Eat up, I will drop you off.”

Anita had already ate her fill at the sight of the document. Madam Cross old be so happy. She thought.

“I think I’m okay. We should leave.” She said smiling.

As Thomas drove through the streets of New York City, he stopped at a mall.

“Be good, I’ll be back in some minutes.” he said and left the car.

When he came back, he came back with a few bags as he handed it over to her.

Surprised, she couldn’t even stretch her hand to take it.

“Just take it!” He said persuading her to receive it.

Shy, she took it.

“You have done so much for me already. Thank you so much Thomas.”

“I like you! Can you be my woman?” He then asked.

Anita froze.

His woman? She hadn’t thought about it.

Since they were going to cooperate and be important to each other, it would make sense.

Smiling, she didn’t say anything.

“The smile tells it all!” He said as he started the car and drove her home. Anita smiled all through the journey.

Thomas dropped her off at the front of her house, kissed her chick and left.

“Oh my goodness Anita! This is awesome!” Kate praised, jumping in amazement when Anita entered the house.

“Thanks girlie!”

“Come on now! I need some gist.”

“Pause with the curiousity girlie. I need some rest.” she then said, going in.

“OK cool. Rest, while I enjoy these cupcakes!” she said, smiling widely.

Anita’s mind was filled with the documents that was given to her.

It must contain valuable information. She thought.

Anita had a cool shower, sat on her bed as she took the document out to take a look at it.

When she opened the file, Anita froze.
