Chapter 1 38
Ethan gently placed Liam at a safe distance before turning back towards the burning building, his heart
pounding with worry. “Derrick! Derrick!” he yelled desperately, hoping for any sign of his friend.
“I don’t think you should,” a calm voice interrupted Ethan’s frantic calls. He turned to see a man
standing nearby, his expression grave.
“Derrick’s still in there,” Ethan explained, his voice strained with emotion.
“I know. He’s gone. He’s dead now,” the man informed him with a somber tone.
“How did that happen?!” Ethan demanded, his eyes wide with shock and disbelief as flames engulfed
the structure.
“That explosion was meant for both of you,” the man explained matter-of-factly.
“What?!” Ethan exclaimed, his mind reeling with the revelation.
“Yes. But you got out just in time,” the man confirmed, his gaze fixed on the burning wreckage.
“He yelled at me to leave,” Ethan whispered, his voice trembling with the weight of the realization. His
old friend, whom he had just found alive, was now truly gone.
“It seems he changed his mind, probably when this child ran inside,” the man surmised, his tone heavy
with sorrow.
“So, I would have been caught in the explosion?” Ethan whispered, still grappling with the enormity of
the situation.
“Yes, both of you,” the man confirmed, his expression filled with regret.
“He did all of that and even kidnapped Liam to end it all that way?” Ethan asked, his anger simmering
beneath the surface.
“Derrick was dying,” the man explained softly, his eyes filled with sympathy. “He didn’t have much time
left, and he didn’t actually want to hurt the kids. He took Liam because
he wanted some company during his last days.”
“He’s been alone,” the man added, his voice tinged with sadness.
Ethan took a step back, his thoughts swirling amidst the chaos and destruction. “Who are you?” he
asked the man, his voice tinged with curiosity.
“Alfred. I work for him,” the man replied

“…. Used to.” He corrected himself his gaze distant as memories flooded his mind.
As Ethan stood there, lost in thought, he felt a small tug on his sleeve. Looking down, he met Liam’s
questioning gaze.
“You’re really my daddy?” Liam asked, his eyes wide with wonder.
“Yes,” Ethan replied, his voice filled with warmth and affection as he lifted Liam into his
arms.
Liam smiled brightly before turning his attention back to the burning building. “Is he gonna be okay?” he
asked, his concern evident in his voice. © NôvelDrama.Org - All rights reserved.
“Everything will be fine,” Ethan assured him, holding him close. “Let’s go see Daisy.”
“And Mommy and Nathan,” Liam added eagerly, his innocence shining through despite the chaos
around them.
Ethan paused, struck by Liam’s resilience. “Weren’t you scared?” he asked softly.
Liam shook his head.
His face fell and became serious suddenly his smile Fading completely.
“I want to see Daisy right now. She’s very sick. She needs me,” he said earnestly.
“Hurry up,” he urged, his tone filled with anxiousness
“Mummy,” Daisy whispered weakly, her small hand reaching out to Hazel, who tenderly kissed her
palm.
“When’s Liam gonna come back?” she asked, her voice tinged with longing and impatience. Hazel felt
a pang in her heart, knowing she had to maintain the facade she had crafted to shield Daisy from the
truth about her brother’s disappearance.
“Liam will be here soon, okay? I need you to be strong,” Hazel reassured her, her voice trembling with
worry and uncertainty.
“But Liam said he’ll be here,” Daisy sobbed softly, her eyes brimming with tears. Hazel’s heart broke for
her daughter, who was facing surgery without the comfort of her beloved brother’s presence.
“Honey, I’m really sorry. He’ll be here when you wake up. I promise,” Hazel whispered, her own doubts
and fears gnawing at her resolve. She hoped against hope that Liam would return in time to fulfill his
promise to Daisy.
“Nathan, I don’t know what to do anymore,” Hazel confessed her voice heavy with despair. “Daisy’s not
buying the lie. She keeps asking for her brother.”

“Ethan will find him.” He tried encouraging, but he still felt doubtful.
“Axel, have you found them?” Hazel inquired anxiously as Axel entered the room, his presence offering
a glimmer of hope amidst their despair.
“No,” Axel replied with a heavy sigh, his expression betraying his own apprehension.
“Listen Nathan, I have a hunch of what happened and it can’t be good. I’m worried Something really
bad has happened.” He said quietly when he took Nathan to a corner forewarning Nathan of what was
coming.
“And there’s someone who really want to talk to you.” He added.
“Who is it?” Nathan asked drily
“Nathan.” Jasmine’s small voice reached him.
His eyes widened as he stared at her k disbelief, he couldn’t believe his eyes.
She explained, the man had made her write a false suicide note.
“I’m sorry Nathan, Amelia would actually still be alive, she rushed I trying to save me.” She admitted.
Nathan started at her.
Nothing else mattered other than the fact that she was fine. When he thought she remembered
everything and ended herself, he was overwhelmed by guilt, he caused what had happened. It was
more like Amelia’s sacrifice was all in vain, that he had failed to protect the both of them, but now he
saw her and she was fine, he was relieved.
“That’s what happened,” he muttered slinking down the walls with a heavy sigh.
Closure. He now knew for sure now what had happened to his wife and child. The way they had been
killed. Feeling suffocated he turned to step out of the hospital.
“Where’s Liam, mummy? Did he run away?” Daisy’s voice trembled with worry as she sought answers.
“No, honey, he didn’t,” Hazel reassured her gently, trying to ease her daughter’s growing agitation.
“Then did that strange man take him?” Daisy’s questions persisted, her concern evident as she sensed
her brother’s absence.
“Daisy, calm down,” Hazel urged, her heart heavy with concern as she tried to soothe her daughter’s
growing distress.

Chapter 1 38
“Liam wouldn’t let me go to that room where they’re so many needles alone, he’ll come with me!” She
insisted stubbornly. She was becoming agitated and about to throw a tantrum. She could tell her
brother wasn’t there. “Daisy, calm down.” Hazel tried to urge her. “Mummy Liam.” She sobbed her small
chest heaving heavily. The nurses tried to calm her down immediately. “Shhh, your brother will come.”
Hazel placed her head against hers her eyes filling in her eyes.
“Shhh, your brother will come,” Hazel whispered, her voice filled with tears as she embraced her
daughter, longing to ease her fears.
“Daisy!” A voice called out, breaking through the tension, as Liam rushed toward them with relief
flooding Hazel’s heart.
“Liam!” Hazel exclaimed, enveloping her son in a tight embrace, her eyes scanning him. anxiously for
any signs of harm.
“Are you okay?” she asked, her voice trembling with emotion, her concern etched in every line of her
face.
“Liam,” Daisy whispered through her breathing tubes, her eyes seeking his comfort.
Liam moved to her side, gently taking her hand in his, offering her the reassurance she craved.
“You’re okay, Daisy. I’m here now,” he smiled, his presence bringing solace to her fragile
heart.
“Daisy, you were right. Mr. Princess really is Daddy,” Liam revealed, his words lighting up Daisy’s eyes
with joy as Hazel affirmed his words.
“Be strong for us, Daisy. When you come out, we’ll be waiting for you. Me, Liam, Nathan, and Mr.
Princess… Daddy,” Hazel whispered, her words carrying the weight of their shared hope and love.
“Daisy,” Ethan’s voice called softly, drawing their attention as he approached.
Hazel’s eyes were on him while she still held Liam. He stroked the girl’s small face. She was happy,
although her heart rate was sp iking in excitement it was safer than when she was throwing a tantrum.
She tried to remove the breather that had been put to calm her down.
“Mr princess.” She whispered. “You’re daddy?” She asked him with another smile. Ethan nodded his
eyes becoming misty. Daisy smiled broadly,
Daisy’s eyes sparkled with delight as she recognized him, her small voice filled with excitement and joy.
“When I wake up, I wanna go to Lu-Land,” she declared, then begun listing all of the fun places she
would be taken to when she recovers
“Okay, yes.” Ethan replied chuckled, promising to fulfill her wishes, his heart swelling with love for his
children. They had lost so many years now, he would do whatever he took to make up for it.
“You’ll be okay,” Ethan assured her, his touch gentle as he stroked her cheek, his words a promise of
unwavering support.
Nathan watched from a distance, feeling a pang of longing as he witnessed their bond, the family he
yearned for but never had. With a heavy sigh, he turned to walk away, feeling like an outsider.
“Nathan!” Daisy’s voice called out.
He stopped in his tracks then looked back, Daisy wanted him even though her father was there?
“Aren’t you going to see Daisy off?” Liam asked with a small frown. Nathan chuckled lightly feeling a
small light feeling. Ethan stepped out of the way while the two talked for a little while.
“It’s time, we need to get started.” A nurse informed the family. Daisy took a glance at her family.
Hazel smiled warmly at her “You’ll be fine baby.” She encouraged her.
“Let’s all go to Lu- Land when I come back!” She yelled then was wheeled away. Hazel stood watching
her wheeled into the theater a small sigh escaping her lips.
“She’ll be fine. We’ve got the best doctors.” Ethan said placing an arm of hers. She nodded.
“I’m sorry, I wasn’t supposed to break it to them like this, I wanted to give your time to trust me.” He
apologized.
“It’s okay.” She interrupted
“It was time for the Truth to be out already.” She said in relief.
“And it seemed they already suspected it.” She sighed.
“Have you always known?” Hazel asked Liam, curiosity tingeing her voice.
Liam shrugged, his expression thoughtful as he considered her question.
“I and Daisy talked about it. I always felt a connection to Mr. Princess, I can’t explain it,”

Liam admitted, his words carrying a sense of wonder.
“That’s how I can always find him,” he explained, a hint of awe in his voice.
“Daisy once said, imagine Mr. Princess is Daddy,” Liam shared, a small smile playing on his lips
“You’re really not smart, Ethan. Your kids happen to be even faster than you. Thankfully, they got all the
good genes,” Axel remarked with a hint of jest. Ethan managed a faint smile in response.
“Derrick,” Ethan muttered, his mind still grappling with the recent events.
“Already on it,” Axel replied, indicating he was already informed about the situation. “We’ll make an
announcement to the entire pack on what really happened. We’d do it right this time,” Axel stated,
echoing Ethan’s sentiments.
“After that, I’ll quit then go someplace else with Jasmine,” Axel added with a slight smile, outlining his
plans to depart once everything settled with Derrick’s issue.
“Will
you tell Hazel?” Axel inquired, acknowledging Hazel’s right to know the truth about her mate’s demise.
“She deserves to know the truth. She must be wondering why she never got to meet her mate, to feel
the bond or connection. She deserves to know everything,” Ethan replied softly, his gaze fixed on Hazel
as she fussed over Liam.
“He must have been so lonely,” Ethan murmured, his thoughts drifting back to Derrick. And to think his
father had played a huge role in that and had tried to cover it up,
it was just disappointing.
He was grateful Derrick had a change of heart at the last moment. All that remained was Daisy coming
out of there.
“Still, it doesn’t really justify it,” Axel commented.
“What should we do about Bella?” Axel asked
“We’ll get Nathan’s opinion,” Ethan replied. Nathan too was one of the people who had suffered Bella’s
action.
“I’ve been living with a killer.” Ethan mumbled with a sigh.
With a heavy heart, Ethan turned and began to walk away, the lingering sadness still palpable in the air.
“Ethan!” Axel’s voice rang out, filled with concern, as he noticed Ethan slumped on the floor. Ethan had
passed out.
