In the depths of the night, under the watchful glow of the moon, the three children huddled together in Ben’s room, their senses heightened and their instincts on edge.
Ben and Donna engaged in hushed conversation, their words laden with suspicion, while Tony sat off to the side, lost in his own thoughts. It was then that Donna’s piercing gaze fell upon Tony, her voice cutting through the silence like a razor.
“Tony?” she called out, her voice laced with concern.
Startled, Tony snapped back to reality, meeting their inquisitive gazes. “Huh?” he muttered, confusion evident in his eyes.
“What’s troubling you? You seem preoccupied,” questioned Donna, her voice dripping with curiosity.
Tony furrowed his brow, his thoughts shrouded in unease. “Have either of you noticed the changes in Mommy lately?” he asked, his tone heavy with concern.
A flicker of understanding passed between Ben and Donna, as they too had noticed their mother’s strange behavior.
“There’s something off about her,” Ben spoke up, his words echoing Tony’s apprehension. “Especially tonight, she’s been distant, lost in her own thoughts.”
Donna turned her gaze towards him, her expression a mix of confusion and disbelief. “But tonight, she seemed so affectionate towards us. She couldn’t stop smiling,” she remarked.
Ben couldn’t help but challenge her statement. “When have you ever seen her act that way? She’s always been cool and detached, never showing much interest in anything. This sudden change is concerning.”
Donna’s eyes widened, realization dawning upon her. She had to admit, their mother was not known for her warmth and tenderness. The way she had been behaving recently was a stark departure from her usual self.
A sense of foreboding settled upon them, their instincts whispering that something was amiss.
“Perhaps something has happened to us that has caused her to change,” Donna suggested, her gaze shifting between her two brothers.
Ben remained silent, but deep down, he knew that the situation was far from simple.
In contrast, Tony reached a conclusion. “It’s possible… whatever the reason, we need to keep a close eye on her in the coming days,” he advised, his voice filled with determination.
The three children nodded in unison, their minds united by a shared concern.
“Alright, it’s getting late,” Tony urged, breaking the tense atmosphere. “Let’s get some rest. Goodnight, everyone.”
As Tony turned to leave, Donna reached out to stop him. “Wait, what is it?” she demanded, her voice urgent.
“Daddy and Nelly are still outside,” Donna hissed, her eyes darting towards the door.
Confusion clouded Tony’s face. “So?”
Donna’s voice grew sharper. “They could be developing a deeper relationship, and if we were to interrupt them now, we might ruin everything.”
Tony could not contain his frustration, striking her on the head. “What nonsense are you spouting? Are you out of your mind?” he retorted.
Amidst their heated exchange, Tony’s words struck a nerve. “How do you know that Nelly has feelings for Daddy? Did she confide in you?” he challenged.
“I-I can sense it!” Donna exclaimed, her certainty wavering. “You know her. The way she interacts with Daddy… it’s different. She must have feelings for him.”
Tony scoffed, his doubt evident. “Your judgment and instincts have always been unreliable,” he declared.
Donna’s anger flared, the tension between them escalating. “This is a personal attack, Tony!”
He remained firm. “No, I am simply stating the truth,” he fired back, unyielding in his conviction.
Their bickering reached a crescendo, leaving Ben exasperated. “Enough! Both of you are giving me a headache,” he interjected, his voice pleading for peace.
Donna turned her piercing gaze towards him, seeking his opinion. “What do you think, Ben?” she questioned, her voice laced with intensity.Published by Nôv'elD/rama.Org.
Caught off guard, Ben’s eyes darted between his siblings, a wave of uncertainty washing over him. He had to choose his words carefully, mindful of the fragile dynamics between them.
In the end, Ben couldn’t resist the innocence in Donna’s eyes. With a nervous stutter, he confessed, “Uh… I actually agree with Donna. I think Mommy might have feelings for Daddy…”
Donna’s face lit up with victorious glee, triumphantly turning towards Tony. “See? Even Ben shares my belief. The majority has spoken!”
Surprisingly, Tony remained calm and collected, his composure unshaken. In fact, a smug smile danced upon his lips as he uttered, “You see? The strong never need validation from others, unlike the weak.”
Donna and Ben were left speechless, their defeat impossible to deny.
Tony, reveling in his victory, bid them goodnight with a flourish, his arrogance on full display. “Goodnight, weaklings,” he taunted, before elegantly making his exit.
“How dare he!” Donna huffed, her indignation palpable.
“Indeed! His arrogance knows no bounds,” Ben agreed, echoing her sentiments.
With a determined glimmer in her eyes, Donna turned towards Ben and declared melodiously, “We’ll have Daddy teach him a lesson one day!” With that, she rose from her seat and left the room.
Ben couldn’t help but giggle at the exchange, their squabble momentarily forgotten.
As he lay on his bed, a smile played upon his lips. Tonight’s familial dinner had brought a rare sense of joy, overshadowing the tensions that often plagued them.
With a contented sigh, he closed his eyes, the bliss of slumber descending upon him.
Little did they know, as they drifted into peaceful dreams, Alpha Kilian awoke to find his arm strangely numb, a harbinger of the challenges that lay ahead.
