On the other side, Thalia trailed after Spencer, her eyes glowing in the moonlight. Her senses heightened, she could practically smell his fear as he hurriedly darted into his car and sped away. Determined not to lose him, Thalia swiftly hopped into her own car and followed, her heart pounding with the thrill of the chase.
Spencer’s foot pressed down hard on the gas pedal, forcing Thalia to push her own car to its limits to keep up. Adrenaline coursed through her veins as they raced through the darkened streets, a dangerous dance between predator and prey.
As the miles flew by, Spencer’s gaze flickered nervously to his rearview mirror, his eyes fixed on Thalia’s pursuing vehicle. There was an unmistakable fear etched on his face, the fear that something terrible was about to befall her.
But Thalia wasn’t deterred. In her heart, she burned with an insatiable desire to catch him, to confront him about the secrets he held.
“Not this time, Spencer,” she growled under her breath, determination hardening her features. With a surge of determination, she pushed the gas pedal to the floor, fueling her resolve to its limits.
Spencer’s brow furrowed with concern as Thalia’s relentless pursuit continued. Spotting a crossroads up ahead, he devised a plan to throw her off his trail. Feigning a straight path, he abruptly veered into another direction.
Thalia almost fell for his ruse, her car screeching to a halt as she watched his taillights disappear. But she quickly regained her composure, her instincts guiding her as she swiftly changed direction, refusing to be outwitted by his desperate attempts to elude her.
The road grew more desolate as Spencer’s car carried them further into isolation. Realizing that he had no intention of stopping, a dangerous idea formed in Thalia’s mind. “You brought this upon yourself, Spencer,” she whispered, her voice laced with determination.
With reckless abandon, she pushed her foot harder on the gas pedal, propelling her car forward until it slammed into the back of his vehicle. Spencer’s car jerked violently, a frantic curse escaping his lips as he desperately increased his speed.
Undeterred, Thalia maintained her pursuit, her car relentlessly crashing into the back of his. The sound of metal on metal echoed through the night, a symphony of danger and desperation.
“Damn you!” Spencer cursed, his worry mixing with resignation. He knew that if he couldn’t shake Thalia off, she would go to desperate lengths to get what she wanted.
Desperation painted his face as he scanned his surroundings, searching for an escape. His eyes landed on a narrow alley, and hope flickered in his gaze. Without a second thought, he veered towards the alley, hoping to lose her in the shadows.NôvelDrama.Org copyrighted © content.
But fate had a different plan in store. As he neared the entrance of the alley, another vehicle emerged from the darkness, a blaring horn filling the night. A collision seemed imminent, but Spencer’s quick reflexes saved him as he swerved away from the oncoming truck.
Startled, the truck driver yelled at Spencer, his anger palpable. “You think you’re above the law just because you drive a fancy car?”
Moments later, a loud crash filled the air. The truck driver turned his gaze, his eyes widening in shock as he witnessed Thalia’s car smashing into the mountainside.
Shockwaves reverberated through Spencer’s body as he heard the sound, his heart pounding in his chest. He brought his car to a screeching halt, his eyes filled with fear as he looked towards the wreckage.
Unfazed by the danger, he raced towards the demolished car, his every instinct screaming at him to save her. Tears welled in his eyes as he desperately tried to pry open the damaged door, only to meet resistance.
“Wait for me, Thalia!” he cried out, his voice cracking with desperation. “I’ll save you!”
As he turned his gaze towards the truck driver, his plea for assistance met the man’s confused expression. “But… the driver wasn’t in the car…”
Realization dawned upon Spencer, and he spun around, his heart pounding. And there she stood, blood staining her forehead and arm, a defiant smile gracing her lips. Thalia had managed to escape the car just moments before the crash.
He had been fooled.
Thalia had taken a gamble, and this time, she had won.
With a victorious gleam in her eyes, she looked at him. “I thought you didn’t know me. Why the panic, then?”
A tumult of emotions stormed within Spencer’s heart as he gazed at her. His conflicting feelings fought for dominance, but he couldn’t suppress the surge of anger any longer.
“Do you have any idea what you’ve done?” he roared, his voice threatening to shatter the night. But Thalia showed no signs of fear or regret, her eyes sparkling with defiance.
“Yes, I knew exactly what I was doing,” she replied, her voice dripping with confidence. “If I hadn’t taken that risk, you would have never stopped and listened to me.”
“You’re playing with fire!”
A mischievous grin played on her lips as she met his gaze. “Maybe I am, but it was worth it.” Her eyes burned with unwavering determination.
His heart wavered for a moment, his rage tempered by her unwavering resolve. But reminding himself of the impossibility of a relationship between them, he steeled himself.
Suppressing his tumultuous emotions, he turned and walked away, refusing to give her any further attention.
But Thalia was not ready to let him slip away. She lunged forward, blocking his path. “You think you can run?”
“Move aside!” he snapped, his voice icy.
“No!” Her voice echoed with determination, her eyes blazing with a fierce resolve.
Spencer’s gaze fixed on her, his eyes roaming over her familiar features. Years had passed, and she had grown, but the memories of their impossible past still haunted him.
Not willing to meet her gaze any longer, he averted his eyes, his voice cold and distant. “How long do you plan to haunt me, Thalia? It’s been years. Can’t you let go of the past?”
Thalia stared at him, pain etched across her face. But even in her hurt, she refused to back down. “How long will you keep hiding from the truth, Spencer? After all this time, why can’t you believe me?”
As she stepped closer, Spencer unconsciously took a step back. His grip tightened on her arm as his gaze bore into her. A complicated mix of emotions swirled in his eyes as he spoke in a low, tortured voice. “Behave yourself.”
Pain flashed in her eyes, but it quickly transformed into a defiant smile. “I haven’t behaved myself around you in a long time.” And with those words, she leaned in, stood on her toes, and pressed her lips against his.
Spencer stood frozen, thunderstruck by the intensity of her actions.
Thalia smirked, satisfied in her victory. “So, what are you going to do about it? Can you deny your feelings for me?”
Insanity danced in his dark eyes as he struggled to regain his composure.
But the silence only fueled her determination. “I know you have feelings for me, Spencer. Don’t you dare deny it.”
A cruel smile tugged at his lips. “Who said I have feelings for you? I already have someone I care about.”
Her confusion was palpable, her voice trembling. “W-What did you say?”
Spencer’s heart ached at the sight of her pain, but he pressed on with a callousness born out of self-preservation. “Please, Thalia. Stop causing trouble. Let go of the past and move on.”
For a moment, she simply stared at him, her eyes flickering with disbelief.
“You really have… someone else?” she questioned, her voice cracking.
In the depths of his eyes, regret mingled with the torment of their tangled past. “Yes. It’s time to accept the truth, Thalia. This… us… it can never be.”
