“What?” growled Alpha Kilian, his voice dripping with a menacing undertone.
“How about if I marry you as a way to redeem myself?” he suggested, his brows raised and a hint of a predatory grin on his face.
Nelly retorted, her voice laced with skepticism, “Are you sure that’s redemption for you and not a punishment for me?” A low growl rumbled in the back of Alpha Kilian’s throat as he chuckled. “That depends on how you look at it. Once we’re married, I can redeem myself by allowing you to punish me in any way you see fit.”
Nelly’s lips curved slightly, a dangerous glint in her eyes. “I’ve got a feeling that you’re trying to scam me into marriage.”
“Was I successful?” Alpha Kilian asked, his voice dripping with smugness.
“What do you think?” Nelly scoffed, her tone dripping with disdain. Alpha Kilian took a deep breath, feigning helplessness. “Fine. It looks like I need to work on my scamming skill.” Nelly’s satisfied smile fueled his determination. “Try harder next time,” she consoled him.
With that, she rose from her seat, ready to make her exit. But Alpha Kilian had other plans. He swiftly pulled her back, his body firmly pinning hers against the table. Leaning in close, his warm breath caressed her face as he whispered, “Nelly, when you told me to try harder the next time, do you mean what I think you are referring to?”
A mischievous glint sparked in Nelly’s eyes as she smirked. “Did I say that? I think so. Then again, I meant it as a joke.” She rolled her eyes before meeting his gaze. “You can also choose to give up!”
“Give up? I was stupid once. Do you think I will make the same mistake again?” Alpha Kilian’s voice held a fierce determination. “This time around, I will never, ever give up!” His eyes blazed with an intensity that both thrilled and unnerved Nelly.
At times, Nelly questioned if this was all an illusion, a wicked game. Could Alpha Kilian be nothing but a masterful actor? But no matter the truth, she refused to be the loser once again. With a playful smile, she looked at him and uttered, “It’s up to you.”
Alpha Kilian became further motivated as he saw that she wasn’t as cold as she had been in the past. Knowing she was teasing him yet not infuriated, his eyes lit up with a wolfish gleam. “Nelly…” he whispered, relishing the taste of her name on his tongue.
“Yes?” Nelly replied, her tone laced with a mix of curiosity and anticipation.
“You’re really beautiful,” Alpha Kilian confessed, his voice filled with adoration. Nelly felt a flutter in her chest, momentarily taken aback. “Alpha Kilian, if you keep this disgusting act up, I won’t be able to have my lunch anymore!”
A low chuckle escaped Alpha Kilian’s throat before he asked, “What would you like to have for lunch?”
Nelly tilted her head, a playful glint in her eyes. “Whatever.” Alpha Kilian nodded, a smile tugging at the corners of his lips. “Okay. Let me arrange it.”
As the afternoon unfolded, news of Desmond’s arrest spread like wildfire. Reporters flocked to the hospital to verify Erin’s condition, only to find her alive and conscious. The ones who had hastily published their reports without verifying their sources were now the laughing stocks, forced to issue public apologies for their mistakes. Morris Corporation emerged unscathed, their reputation intact without lifting a finger.
Meanwhile, Alpha Zachary sat next to Erin’s bed, his expression grave. Desmond had revealed his true, despicable nature. Alpha Zachary had underestimated him, assuming his father was simply motivated by money and status. But now, he saw the ugly truth. Desmond was willing to harm his own son and the woman who had given him life. It was an unforgivable act.
Erin’s gaze met Alpha Zachary’s, and she struggled to speak through her injuries. “Zachary, you must try your best to save your father!” Alpha Zachary narrowed his eyes in disbelief. “Mom? Do you know what you’re talking about?”
“I know. Of course, I know. However, he had no choice, and I don’t blame him. You’re his son, so you must save him…” Erin implored, tears streaming down her face. Alpha Zachary’s anger boiled within him. “He wanted to kill you!”
Though Erin had subjected him to years of mental abuse, she was still his mother. Despite their strained relationship, he couldn’t help but wish the best for her. But Desmond… Alpha Zachary knew his father had never fulfilled his parental duties. And now, he had committed an unforgivable act. Alpha Zachary couldn’t forgive him, let alone save him. His voice hardened as he rejected his mother’s plea. “I won’t help him!”
Erin’s tears flowed, her anguish evident. “Zachary, I know I have forced you to do many things against your will throughout the years. You must really hate me. But I swear this will be the last time. Can you please help him…”
Alpha Zachary turned slowly, his eyes filled with a mix of hatred and helplessness. “You know that man doesn’t love you. You’re aware he will sacrifice you for anything. None of it belongs to you. Why do you still want to chase after those things?” His voice was filled with a ferocity that sent shivers down Erin’s spine. “And why do I have parents like you? Why did you give birth to me? Am I only a tool to you?” The darkness in his eyes mirrored the pain and anger within him.
In that moment, Erin closed her eyes in agony. “I know that it’s my fault. Alpha Zachary, I’m sorry. I admit that I was greedy for an easy life. But everything I have done is for you. I didn’t want anybody to look down on you since you were a child…”
“But because of you two, everyone sees me as a laughingstock. My mother is a homewrecker, and my father wanted to murder my own mother,” Alpha Zachary seethed, his voice filled with bitterness and pain.Exclusive content from NôvelDrama.Org.
