“You-” Just as Chris was about to say something, Nelly stopped him with a fierce glare.
He turned around, his frown deepening as he met her determined gaze.
“I’ll settle my own matters,” she stated, her voice resonating with an underlying power.
The intensity in Nelly’s eyes caused Chris to fall silent, his compliance evident as he nodded, standing behind her like a loyal bodyguard.
Nelly then turned to Erin, a sly smirk playing on her lips.
“What are you smiling for?”
“I’m smiling because I can’t believe there’s actually a day where I get to be mocked and warned by a mistress,” Nelly explained, her tone dripping with condescension.
Erin, taken aback, struggled to find words. Her expression transformed from confusion to sheer disbelief. “W-What nonsense are you talking about?”
“Nonsense? Or should I ask Jacques, the biological son of Desmond’s wife? I believe he should be the witness to this entire incident. He must know every detail about it,” Nelly said nonchalantly, her words oozing with a mix of certainty and superiority.
Fear and hatred flickered in Erin’s eyes as she realized that everything she had been hiding had been laid bare.
“How does she know all that? Especially the part about me dating a man when I was in my teens. Practically no one knows about it, nor have I mentioned it to anyone. Well, I told Desmond when I dated him, but that was the first time I told someone about it. How… How does she know about it?” Erin’s mind raced with despair and anger as she glared at Nelly.
Nelly, seeing Erin’s silence, raised an eyebrow arrogantly. “So, Mdm. Charstille, do I need to verify the things I’ve said?”
Enraged, Erin howled before Nelly could finish her sentence. “Shut up! Shut up!” She glared at Nelly fiercely. “What nonsense are you talking about?”
Erin’s explosive reaction only served as confirmation for Nelly. Everything Erin had desperately hidden had been exposed.
“Nonsense? Or should I ask Jacques, the biological son of Desmond’s wife? I believe he should be the witness to this entire incident. He must know every detail about it,” Nelly repeated, relishing in the power she held over Erin.
Trembling with fury, Erin clenched her fists, her eyes blazing with a vengeful fire.
In a split second, Erin launched herself at Nelly, her hand raised to strike. But Chris, sensing her intention, reached out in an attempt to stop her. Unfortunately, Nelly was already a step ahead, effortlessly catching Erin’s hand in a vice-like grip.
Erin stared at Nelly in disbelief, her voice shaking. “Let me go!”Nôvel(D)ra/ma.Org exclusive © material.
“Mdm. Charstille, I hate mistresses the most. And today, you had the guts to come here and slander me. You know what? This is not the first time you’ve infuriated me,” Nelly snarled, her grip tightening on Erin’s hand.
Before Erin could react, Nelly delivered a fierce slap across her face, shocking Erin to her core.
Never in her wildest dreams did Erin imagine that she would be struck by Nelly.
Covering her face, Erin’s mind went blank, struggling to find words.
“I’ve put up with your behavior once because you’re Alpha Zachary’s mother. But this time, you asked for it,” Nelly growled, her voice filled with suppressed rage.
“Did you just hit me?” Erin’s composure shattered, replaced by an overwhelming sense of humiliation for being slapped in front of so many witnesses.
“That single slap was just a lesson. Don’t you ever appear in front of me again, or it won’t be as simple as just a slap next time,” Nelly warned, her tone laced with a chilling threat.
With that, Nelly stormed off, leaving Erin seething with anger.
Ready to launch herself at Nelly again, Erin found her path blocked by Chris and Ross, who stood as a united front.
“Sarah, call for security. Tell them someone’s wreaking chaos here,” Chris ordered, his voice firm and authoritative.
“Got it!” Sarah promptly ran off to seek help, realizing the severity of the situation.
“Don’t you dare touch me! Do you know who I am? I’m the mother of Lucas Corporation’s heir. Do you know who’s backing Lucas Corporation now? It’s Morris Corporation! I’d like to see if you still have the guts to lay a finger on me,” Erin threatened, her voice laced with desperation.
The security guards hesitated upon hearing Erin’s threats, unsure of how to proceed.
To their surprise, Ross waved his hand dismissively. “Take her away. So what if they’ve got Morris Corporation as their backer? We’ve got someone from Morris Corporation working here. Don’t worry. I’ll take responsibility if something happens.”
The guards, reassured by Ross’s words, sprang into action, swiftly dragging Erin away.
“Let me go! Let me go! I’m going to call the cops!” Erin’s voice rang out in a desperate plea, her anger fueling her determination.
Initially assuming Erin’s threat was empty, they were taken aback when she actually followed through, calling the police to the scene.
As Erin arrived at the building accompanied by the police for further questioning, Chris turned to the crowd, his voice firm, and composed. “Did anyone see Ms. Jackson attacking her just now?”
“No!”
“We didn’t see anything!”
“She’s the one who scolded and wanted to hit Ms. Jackson.”
The voices of the Programming Department and even Sarah, the receptionist, echoed in unison, defending Nelly.
Erin, bewildered by the unanimous denial, felt her rage burn hotter.
“All of you are spouting nonsense! You’ve clearly seen her-” She paused, her fury making her tremble. “All of you are under her spell. Everyone here is so despicable!” She turned to the police, desperation in her voice. “She really attacked me…”
Chris raised an eyebrow, his gaze piercing. “So, do you want to hang out in the conference room before leaving?”
The invitation was laced with a mocking undertone, further fueling Erin’s frustration and anger.
