Alpha King’s pregnant Ex-Luna

119

Alpha King Larry let out a long, weary sigh, his werewolf form exuding a mix of frustration and helplessness.

“We may share the same age, but our lives are undeniably divergent in every possible way.”

While the achievements of other people’s children often brought pride, his own grandson seemed to be the constant target of eye-rolls and disapproval.

Alpha King Larry approached Alpha Wade, attempting to provide some solace. “Don’t be angry. It’s only natural to desire someone as extraordinary as Nelly in your lineage, isn’t it? It would be peculiar if you didn’t!”

Alpha Wade couldn’t deny that it was a comforting sentiment.

“Well, at least your taste is better than your useless grandson!” Alpha Wade proclaimed arrogantly, his words dripping with their true intent.

Even a deaf werewolf would discern the real meaning behind those words.

Alpha King Larry, far from becoming angry, smirked and inquired, “Could the young man who visited us recently be the lucky one you’re referring to?”

Alpha Wade raised an eyebrow. “You still remember him?”

“Of course! I remember everyone who hangs around Nelly,” Alpha King Larry replied proudly.

Alpha Wade nodded, dropping the pretense. “Yes, it’s him.”

“Well… are they together?” Alpha King Larry questioned.

Alpha Wade paused and replied, “Soon. He undeniably has feelings for my Nelly. He has confessed as much to me.”

Alpha Kilian glanced at Nelly, who acted obliviously, as if she hadn’t heard a word exchanged between the two old wolves.

It was as if she were completely oblivious to the conversation taking place.

Alpha King Larry nodded upon hearing this. “So, they are not yet officially a couple?”

Alpha Wade frowned, looking up at him. “Why do you seem happy about that?”

“Oh, no, of course not!” Alpha King Larry shook his head, trying to maintain a serious expression. “Why would I be pleased with that? I simply want to hear about who has eyes for Nelly, that’s all. Besides, that young man… he’s quite striking!”

“Of course,” Alpha Wade asserted proudly.

Ben, struggling to stifle his laughter, couldn’t help but think that Alpha King Larry was lying through his teeth.

Alpha King Larry gazed at Alpha Wade, his voice filled with emotion. “Do not fret. Although Nelly may not be my granddaughter, I will treat her as if she were my own. Everything I do is for her happiness.”

No one knew if he truly meant it, but the sentiment was reassuring.

“It appears you’re finally coming around,” Alpha Wade remarked.

“Of course.”

Alpha Wade checked the time and suggested, “Since you’re already here, why don’t we all have lunch together?”

Alpha King Larry couldn’t have been happier at the invitation. “Sure!”

Alpha Wade glanced at the two children beside him and declared, “Let’s go, kids. We’re going to have lunch with your great-grandfather!”

“Yay!”

“What about Mommy?” Ben inquired.

“Oh, I’ll be fine. Don’t worry about me-” Alpha Kilian interjected before Nelly could finish speaking.

Alpha Wade frowned, but Alpha King Larry hastily responded, “Great! You stay here. I wouldn’t want to lose my appetite.”

As he spoke, he grabbed Alpha Wade’s arm and pulled him toward the door. “Let’s go!”

He didn’t even allow Alpha Wade a chance to object as he beckoned the children. “Come on, my little sweethearts!”

Ben and Donna exchanged glances, understanding the need to give them privacy.

To an outsider, it might have seemed like an extraordinary coincidence.

In the corridor, Alpha Wade furrowed his brow, worry evident on his face. “Is it wise to leave them alone in there?”

“Why wouldn’t it be? Besides, Nelly is a patient now. What harm could come from it?” Alpha King Larry retorted.

“Alpha King Larry, why do I have this nagging feeling-”

“Forget about it. Let’s just go. You’re getting more naggy in your old age,” Alpha King Larry dismissed.

The two of them were left alone in the hospital ward, and immediately, an unusual atmosphere settled over the room as the sounds from the corridor faded away.

Alpha Kilian approached Nelly, who met his gaze. “You don’t need to stay here for me. I can take care of myself just fine.”

“It’s my duty to fulfill the promise I made.”

Nelly scoffed, radiating coldness. “Alpha Kilian, this behavior isn’t like you, and you know it.”

“What do you think I’m like?”

“Have you forgotten how much of a jerk you used to be?” Nelly spoke, her words laced with contempt.

Alpha Kilian remained silent.

“I think Lara was right. You’re always here, and I can’t quite explain it.”

“There’s no need to explain.”

“Are you considering coming back to me?” Nelly asked, her voice tinged with surprise at his recent strange behavior.

“What if I am?” Alpha Kilian countered, locking eyes with her, his deep black irises resembling an infinite abyss, impossible to decipher his true intentions.

Nelly paused, taken aback by his response.

After a brief silence, she continued, “Well, I would advise you to forget about it.”

Alpha Kilian smirked, reveling in her reaction. “Why? Are you afraid Alpha Zachary will misunderstand?”

“This has nothing to do with him.”

“Do you like him?” Alpha Kilian abruptly inquired.

“That’s none of your concern.”

“Nelly…” Alpha Kilian trailed off, his eyes fixed on her, his gaze intense and inscrutable.

Nelly didn’t respond. Instead, she observed him with an air of detachment.

“I won’t allow-”

Before Alpha Kilian could finish his sentence, his phone rang.

He paused, retrieving his phone, and frowned when he saw that it was a call from Fabian.

“What is it?”

“Alpha Morris, I’m outside the hospital ward right now. Can I come in?” Fabian’s soft voice came through the receiver.

Alpha Kilian disconnected the call, glancing at Nelly before making his way towards the door.

Fabian stood outside, holding a bag in his hand, when Alpha Kilian swung the door open.

“Here’s your lunch, Alpha Morris,” Fabian informed, raising the bag.

Alpha Kilian didn’t respond. Instead, he simply reentered the room.

Fabian, slightly puzzled by his reaction, wondered if now was a bad time.

However, he decided to follow Alpha Kilian back into the room.

Upon spotting Nelly, Fabian greeted her with his characteristic grin. “Ms. Jackson! Lovely to see you.”

Nelly smiled back at him. “Hello.”

“Today’s lunch is fantastic!” Fabian declared, placing all the food on the table. “Little Marshmallow mentioned that these were all your favorites, so Alpha Morris sent me to get them for you.”

“Little Marshmallow?”

“Oh! That would be your daughter, Donna! She’s so adorable and sweet that I couldn’t resist giving her that nickname.”

Nelly smiled at his response. “I’m sure she loves it.”

Fabian chuckled.

Alpha Kilian’s annoyance grew, and he turned to face Fabian. “Step outside for a moment.”

“Okay. Please enjoy your meal, Ms. Jackson. I’ll be right back,” Fabian obliged, promptly getting up and following Alpha Kilian out of the room.

Meanwhile, Nelly continued eating, unfazed by whatever conversation was about to take place.

Still, she couldn’t shake the feeling that she was constantly being watched intently.

How do I get everyone out of here?

In the corridor, Alpha Kilian inquired, “How is the investigation coming along? Did you find what I asked for?”

“I’ve obtained everything related to the case. I sent it all to your email whenever you have the chance to look it over,” Fabian responded, his voice carrying a hint of uncertainty.
