Chapter 14 Former Mother-in-law Causing Trouble
Ethan had given her a bank card.
He smiled and said, "There's a hundred million dollars in here, it's kind of an allowance I'm giving you as a brother."Exclusive content © by Nô(v)el/Dr/ama.Org.
Leah hugged Ethan happily.
After Leah got the villa key, she decided to keep things low-profile and chose the cheapest Benz from the garage to drive over.
Upon arriving at the gate, she heard the security guard say, "Miss, I have never seen you around here. Please step out and verify your identity before entering."
"Alright." Leah climbed out of the car, reached into her bag to take out the access card, and was just about to tap it on the reader when she heard a familiar yet mocking voice.
"Well, well, isn't this Leah? Have you ever taken a good look at yourself? Come on now, this is Joylands, the renowned affluent district of Ocanni City. Do you really think a penniless nobody like you deserves to go in?" The voice taunted.
Leah turned around and immediately saw her former mother-in-law, Taylor Worthington, with her sharp and scornful expression.
Since Leah married Quentin, her former mother-in-law had never shown her kindness.
In the past, Leah had endured Taylor's mistreatment and her unkind words to avoid causing Quentin any trouble.
But now, she had no reason to endure any longer.
Leah retorted, "Well, now that I've arrived here, I obviously have the right to enter. But what does it matter to you whether I go in or not? It seems like you've had a lot of free time lately, always meddling in other people's business."
Taylor was visibly irritated by Leah's sarcastic remark. "You... I always knew your sweet and compliant demeanor back then was just an act. Thank goodness my son, Quentin, had divorced you. Otherwise, who knows how long your phony facade deceives us."
"Oh, so you knew that Quentin and I are already separated? Then why are you still bothering with my affairs? It appears you have way too much time on your hands." Leah crossed her arms, smirking as she met Taylor's aggressive stare.
"I have really underestimated you. I had no idea you were so sharp-tongued!" Realizing she couldn't outtalk Leah, Taylor turned to the security guard nearby and
continued, "I know her very well bet
Someone like her, entering this upscale neighborhood, must be up to no good! Back when she was at my place, my stuff always went missing. If you don't stop her from entering now and the resident inside loses something and blames it on you, do you think you can compensate for their losses?"
"The residents in Joylands are undoubtedly wealthy or influential, and many of their possessions are invaluable. If something really goes missing, it would be a disaster! The security guard thought and looked at Leah with a wary expression.
He stated firmly. "Miss, only legitimate resident is allowed to enter here. Outsiders are not permitted. I kindly request you to leave now, or I'll have to take forceful measures." "Who says I'm not a resident here? Who says I'm an outsider?" Leah walked past the security guard and tapped her access card at the entrance's access system.
Taylor lifted her chin, her eyes filled with disdain, eagerly waiting to see Leah embarrass herself.
But to everyone's surprise, the gate system access system beeped and actually opened!
Taylor's eyes instantly widened in shock as she looked at Leah in disbelief, asking, "Why... Why do you have the access card for this place?"
Ignoring her, Leah turned to the security guard and asked, "Can I go in now?"
The security guard quickly snapped out of it and responded with a fearful expression, "Of course, you can. I... I'll let you through."
He nervously pondered, "I didn't expect this young lady to be a legitimate homeowner here.
I hope what I did just now didn't offend her.
What if I lose my job because of this?"
