Elara hung up the phone and, after saying something to the teacher, left the classroom abruptly. Asher and Daphne both looked up, glancing at her as she walked out.

Daphne asked, "Where is she going?" It was clear something was wrong since Elara had left right in the middle of class. Asher noticed the panic on her face and frowned. Once she left school, Elara called the driver to pick her up. There were no high-speed trains available yet, and the regular train would take too long, so driving was the only option. She thought back to before the time travel when she had also received the news about her father's accident and had asked Asher to come along with her.

But he had refused. He said he had classes to attend and wouldn't be of much help even if he went, but in reality, he had chosen to stay for Daphne's birthday instead. "Elara. Hearing her name, Elara looked up and saw Lysander approaching. His car was parked by the school gate. He stepped out and said, "Get in."

Elara hadn't expected to see him here at this time. He should've been in class. Seeing him, she said, "My dad's been in an

accident."

"know," Lysander responded calmly, showing none of the panic one might expect from someone who wasn't even twenty yet. I heard from my uncle, so I came to pick you up." Hearing this, Elara got into the car. Tve already called my driver to come get me."

Just tell him to head back. I'll take you there. My uncle happens to be there too, Lysander said.

Compared to Asher's dismissive attitude before the time travel, Lysander's response was incredibly reassuring and made her feel more at ease.

Yet despite having gone through this once before, Elara still couldn't handle the reality of the situation. Before the time travel, her father had been on a business trip when a road collapse caused the accident But now, Barrett should've avoided that disaster.

Tve time traveled, so why is this happening again? Elara thought. And why did the accident happen even earlier this time?

The drive to their destination would take over five hours, and Elara couldn't keep calm. She leaned against the car window, gripping her wrist tightly in an attempt to stop herself from shaking, but it was impossible to control Barrett was the person who loved her the most in the world. The tragedy that had marked her life before the time travel began right after Barrett's death.

All she wanted was for him to stay. She had worked so hard to return to Barrett's side. She couldn't bear to lose him again.

It was raining outside. Lysander, noticing how she sat silently by the window, tears streaming down her face, handed her a bottle of water, twisting off the cap for her. "Elara, have some water."

Elara looked up at Lysander. She didn't take the water, just gazed at him with red, tear-filled eyes. "Tm not thirsty."

"It'll still be a while before we get there," Lysander said softly. "Mr. Kensington will be okay. My uncle will call me the moment there's any news. Don't worry too much."

After his quiet encouragement, Elara finally took the water and rank a little. Lysander watched her, fully understanding the pain she was going through. It was a feeling he knew all too well

He had witnessed his own mother die right in front of him. It was the most haunting memory of his childhood.

Lysander had seen his mother jump from the top floor and fall night before his eyes.novelbin

Elara stared at Lysander in front of her. Even though he was trying to comfort her, the memories from before the time travel' were still far too vivid in her mind.

By the time they arrived at the hospital, it was already past nine in the evening. Steven saw Elara and Lysander enter and walked over to greet them. "You're here."

"Mr. Clark, how's my dad?" Elara's voice was hoarse from the overwhelming worry.

"Fortunately, they managed to treat him in time. He's out of immediate danger, so you don't need to worry too much for now. Steven reassured her.

"Really?" Even though Steven said this, Elara still instinctively questioned him, her mind filled with doubt.

"Is Dad really okay!' she wondered.

Steven nodded. "Yes, really. He's still unconscious at the moment, but I'll take you to see him."

As Elara looked at Steven, it suddenly dawned on her that before the time travel, it wasn't Steven who had informed her about her father's accident. Things were playing out similarly to before, but there were small differences. She asked, "Mr. Clark, why are you here?"

"I've been here attending a conference recently, and I just happened to be around when your father's accident occurred." Steven explained.

"What happened to my dad?" Elara asked.

"It's been raining heavily these past few days, and there was a landslide. Thankfully, I was able to step in and arrange for the best doctors to treat him."

The medical facilities here weren't as advanced as those in Brookfield, but with Steven's connections, Barrett was now in good hands and out of danger.

Others traveling with Barrett had also been injured, including Monica, though her injuries were much less severe and she had already regained consciousness.

After visiting her father, who was still lying unconscious in bed, ara went to check on Monica as well. Monica was lying in bed, her wounds already bandaged. When she saw Elara walk in, she tried to sit up When she saw Elara Kensington enter, she wanted to sit up. "Hello, Miss Kensington

"Stay seated. I'm just here to check on you," Elara said.

"How is Mr. Kensington? Has he woken up yet?" Monica asked.

"No, my dad's injuries are pretty serious," Elara replied.

Monica lowered her head and said, "It was raining... we shouldn't have gone out, but he insisted. He even said..

"Said what?" Elara pressed.

Monica glanced at Elara and said, "He said he had promised to return by the 10th to see you, so he had to finish everything up."

As she spoke, Monica's eyes held a trace of blame. Although she didn't dare to say it out loud, knowing how much Barrett protected Elara, it was clear from her expression that she believed it was Elara's fault.

If not for her, Barrett wouldn't have been in the accident.

Seeing Monica's accusatory gaze, Elara immediately understood her meaning. Monica thought that Elara was the reason her father had been hurt.

Just then. Lysander approached and said to Elara, "Mr. Kensington, you have woken up."

Elara quickly went to the hospital room. When she entered, she saw her father lying in bed, now conscious but still very weak due to the severity of his injuries.

He saw Elara and said. "Hi, Elara."

Elara Kensington sat down beside his father and held his hand. "Hello, Dad."

Seeing that she was crying, Barrett said, "Why are you crying! I'm fine!"

Elara's eyes were already extremely red. But now that she saw that her father could still wake up, she was actually relieved. After accompanying her father in the hospital until late at night Steven asked Lysander to bring her back to rest. They found a hotel nearby. Before going to bed, Elara took a shower. Since everything had happened so suddenly, she hadn't brought any clothes with her and was now wearing a bathrobe when she came out of the bathroom.

Lysander, who had been sitting in a chair, looked up and froze for a moment when he saw her. Her hair was still wet. Even though he spent time with her every day, he had never seen her like this before. Feeling a bit uncomfortable, he quickly averted his gaze. Elara frowned and said, "I don't know where the hair dryer is. I've been looking for it but can't seem to find it. Maybe I'll call the front desk." As she said this, she sat down and was about to make the call. Lysander, feeling tense, quickly said, "I'll find it for you." He hurried into the bathroom and soon came back. "Elara, I found it." Elara had just connected the call to the front desk but, hearing his voice hung up and walked over. Lysander looked at her.

Normally, she would have handled something as simple as this with ease, but today, her mind seemed scattered, clearly preoccupied with her father's condition. Seeing her wet hair, Lysander offered, "Sit down. I'll dry your hair for you."
