A Touch From You

Chapter 22

Makayla woke up with a smile that fine Saturday morning. The source of her happiness was due to the fact that her boyfriend, Jason would be celebrating his birthday that day and she was really excited for it.

She had everything planned out already, all she needed to do was put the final touches to the preparations and it was guaranteed to be a blast.

”Can’t wait to see the look on Jason’s face.” Makayla murmured.

She was still keeping the issue with her boss, Eric on hold for now. Since it was Jason’s birthday, she didn’t want to say or do anything that would ruin a beautiful day just like this.

Makayla sighed, thinking about the Client she was to meet later that day. She knew she had to give up that meeting because it was her boyfriend’s birthday and there was no way in hell she would miss it for any reason.

Her jet black hair was tousled as a result of the constant tossing and turning she did in the night, Makayla hated to admit it but she had nightmares. On some days, she didn’t but on most days, it was terrible. On those bad days, she could barely sleep and found herself wide awake until dawn and for the rest of that day, she was usually in a foul mood.

The previous night was a good one for her and she was glad about this because she couldn’t quite imagine herself being grumpy today. It would speak bad of her and this was something that wouldn’t look nice on her.

On those days she had nightmares, she usually found herself thinking about how her life would turn out if Jason left her. No doubt, she knew she would be miserable and what’s worse, really dejected about it.

Jason was the best thing that had ever happened to her and she prayed constantly that nothing would ever sever their love. He was her soulmate, the man she wanted to spend the rest of her life with and he had also made it known that he wanted the same.

Makayla smiled, thinking back on the day Jason had asked her to be his girlfriend on that rainy day in his house. She had accepted immediately because there was really no reason to beat about the bush when she knew what her heart wanted.

They had been friends for quite a while and this just cemented their love. Makayla had the best time of her life by being his girlfriend which was something she knew she wouldn’t find anywhere else.

Makayla was going to be twenty one which just made everything easier for her. He was going to be her soulmate and she knew nothing would stop it. She rose up from her bed, walking towards the bathroom to do her toilet business. She had a lot of things to prepare and if she wanted to begin with it, she had to start very early.

The previous day, Makayla had talked to Jason’s parents who were really supportive of them. They had given her list of things Jason enjoyed doing and eating. Makayla discovered that they were similar in their likes and dislikes which just butteressd the point that they were meant to be.

The fates had already decided it and nothing could go wrong. Jason was due to arrive home by eight that day due to him going on a patrol at his camp. Jason was next in line to be the head in his camp.

When Makayla was done in the bathroom, she made her way back to her room where her phone began ringing. She wasn’t expecting anyone’s call since she had canceled most of her appointments the previous day. Her mother would still be in bed since the time difference between them was huge.

Makayla picked up her phone and discovered it was her best friend calling. Claire Peters had been her friend since way back highschool and that bond was still with them even up till now. They practically knew everything there is to know about each other.

”Hey babe, what’s up?” Makayla smiled.

She was happy to hear her voice after a short while of silence. Claire had taken up a job as a sales representative in one of the biggest supermarkets in the country. She took up the branch in the UK which saw her taking thousands of dollars every year as their senior staff.

Makayla was proud of what her friend had achieved, she deserved it after working so hard in school. Claire was usually the brainiest out of all of them and it was no surprise to Makayla when she got the job.

”Hi love, how are you doing?” Claire said.

Makayla could hear some background noise and she knew either Claire was busy doing some laundry or she was simply cleaning. Asides being a brilliant bee in school. Claire was a neat freak. She hated anything associated with dirt and she always found a way to keep her surroundings clean.

”Wait, let me guess you’re cleaning?” Makayla asked.

”You know me too well.” Claire laughed.

”Of course, why wouldn’t i? I’m your best friend after all and it’s just the same way you know me.” Makayla smiled.

”Yes, I need to clean ASAP. I’m expecting some guests in a few hours and I have to make the house spotless. I haven’t heard from you in a while and so i got worried and decided to call.” Claire said.

”You’re so sweet Claire.” Makayla sighed.

”Of course, that’s why you love me.” Claire chuckled.

Makayla told her all about her preparations for Jason’s birthday party but she had a feeling that Claire wasn’t in full support of it by her continued silence.Text © by N0ve/lDrama.Org.

”Claire. Is anything wrong?” Makayla asked.

”I don’t mean to be a spoil sport but are you really sure that this Jason loves you?” Claire asked.

Makayla remained quiet for a while, staring into space. What Claire said had her thinking about her future with Jason but still, she was convinced that Jason loved her. He had said so countless times but right at that moment, Kathie wondered if he was telling the truth.

”Yes Claire, Jason loves me.” Makayla said.

”I see. Makayla, you know i love you right?” Claire said.

”I know that Claire and I really don’t want you to get worried. I’m happy with Jason and i know he loves me.” Makayla said.

”Okay, that’s really good to hear. I really don’t want you to end up a sad broken mess if this doesn’t work out. I’ve seen how you love people Makayla, you love them to a fault and i really don’t want anything that would destroy your happiness.” Claire said.

She perfectly understood what Claire was saying and Makayla was deeply touched by her show of concern. It just meant that Claire loved her and wouldn’t want to see her sad.

”Nothing will Claire, i’m sure of that.” Makayla said.

She was convinced beyond any reasonable doubt that Jason was for her and her alone. There was no way in hell he would break her heart after everything they had been through together as a couple.

”I’m just glad that you’re really convinced that this boy loves you. My friend is in love.” Claire hooted.

Makayla laughed, grinning from ear to ear. She was really relieved that she was in full support of this. She couldn’t imagine what would have happened if Claire wasn’t;t supporting this.

”So what’s up about you and i mean your love life.” Makayla said.

Claire had dated once in a while but it wasn’t really anything serious. Though she hated to admit it, Claire was a hopeless romantic who was easily swayed by love but yet, she always advised Makayla on what to do.

”Let’s just say you’ll soon be surprised.” Claire said.

”Alright then, i’m patiently waiting.” Makayla smiled.

They talked some more before Kathie cut off the line. Now, all she had to do was plan a perfect birthday for her boyfriend. Nothing could spoil this day, that much she knew.
