Chapter 3506
Alexis wore black and the bruises still marked her skin.
Holding an umbrella, she gazed at the photo on the tombstone.
The picture showed a youthful Calvin of about twenty, full of life.
Years hadnt dulled Alexis memory of the day she had met Calvin, his eyes filled with despair after his parents tragic end following their suicide.
Then, she reached out and had since become Calvins guarding angel!
While Leonel was absent, she and Calvin formed a tight bond, like family. Until one day, when Leonel reappeared.
But now, Calvin rested peacefully in the cemetery.
Alexis removed a white flower from her blouse, placing it before the tombstone. She tenderly touched the photo of Calvin, his youthful face staring back at her. In a hoarse voice, she murmured, Its been too long
since I last visited.
Silence followed her words, save for the faint breaths behind her.
Though she knew it was Leonel, she refused to turn. Instead, she stood, mourning Calvins loss.
And then, under the rain, they faced each other.
One was sheltered by an umbrella, the other was drenched.
A memory struck Leonel: a rainy day from their youth. Alexis had no umbrella then, so hed drped his school uniform over her, holding her close as they walked.

Alexis had been embarrassed, angry, and worried for him. She tossed his jacket back to him.
But now, she wouldnt share the umbrella.
Gazing at Leonel, Alexis spoke coldly. Lets end this, Leonel.
His mouth moved but no words came. ALL he heard was the rain.
He wanted to say something, but found himself speechless.
As Alexis walked past, raindrops splattered from the umbrella onto Leonels face, his heart skipping a beat.
Ina sudden burst of clarity, Leonel seized her hand.
No way, Alexis! Im not divorcing you! Alexis halted, eyeing the bruises on her wrist, a painful reminder of last nights ordeal with Leonel.
It seemed hed conveniently forgotten.
