A Naive Bride for the Sophisticated CEO

Chapter 29: Wedding Night

Chapter 29: Wedding Night

The wedding reception was arranged at the back of the church, in an open field. There was a large white shed to prevent the people and the meal from the sun.

Helen and James got to the venue and saw some people were eating already. She searched the place with her eyes for Charles and saw him having a chat with Freddie. They seemed happy.

“I’ll talk to your father. Find your wife. I’ll talk to you when I’m done.”

She tapped his shoulder and walked up to Charles. James saw Amelia sitting on one of the chairs, she was staring at the meal in front of her hungrily.

James scoffed and walked up to her.

“If you want to eat it, just eat,” He mumbled and sat in front of her.

She smiled faintly and looked up.

“I was waiting for you. I was told that I can’t eat until you are here.”

James raised his brows and chuckled. “So you decided to wait for me? Why?”

“Errmm… So that we can eat together.”

“And if I didn’t wait for the reception, would you have still waited for me?” He asked, and she lowered her head and bounced it slowly.

“I think so.”

James rolled his eyes and let out a soft sigh. He stood up, and she lifted her head and looked at me.

“You are just so dumb. I don’t want to eat with you. Don’t wait for me.”

He turned to leave, but she quickly stood up and grabbed his hand. He turned to look at her hand around his. He seemed pissed.

She had a chat with Freddie before James arrived, and he had told her to do everything she could to bring him closer to herself. He told her not to give up on him and make sure she gained his love.

He snatched his hand away from her, and she gulped hard and smiled again.

“Where are you going?” She asked.

“Why do you want to know? It’s none of your business,” He responded and proceeded to leave.

“We should dance later!”

James abruptly stopped when he heard her statement. He arched his brows and turned back. He stared at her and moved closer to her.

At this point, Amelia could hear her heart beating very fast. ‘I think I’ve crossed the line. Amelia, you are going too fast!’

“What did you just say?” He muttered coldly and shivers ran down Amelia’s spine.

“I said we should dance later. After eating, we would be asked to dance. So, I was thinking…”

“Snap out, Amelia. Erase whatever you are thinking in that head of yours, okay?! I am not dancing with you. Know your limit. You are nothing but my secretary to me. Don’t think too much about all these. I don’t love you, and I never will.”

Amelia’s throat tightened painfully as she watched him strut away. She felt so stupid for thinking she could make him fall in love with her like her uncle had told her.

‘Amelia, stop dreaming. He will never love you.’

She lowered her head in grief and walked back to where she previously sat. She stared at the food for a few seconds and dug in afterwards.

‘I need food to console myself.’

Helen and Charles began to take a stroll around the vast church premises. She had told Freddie they had something important to talk about, and so he excused them.

“What is the important thing you want to talk to me about?” Charles asked.

“It’s about us,” She responded and looked at him.

“And what about us?”

She stood walking, and Charles was prompted to stop too. He looked at her and saw she was finding it hard to talk.

“What is it, Helen?”

“The thing is I want you back, Charles.”

She moved closer to him, and he took a step backward, making her halt.

“I don’t understand. You want me back? Helen, it’s been years…”

“I know, Charles. But believe me, I had my reasons for living. If I didn’t leave, you would have been killed, Charles.”

“What are you talking about?” He knitted his brows in confusion.

“Eighteen years ago, my father threatened you and our son. We ran away from him to get married, but he still came back to hunt us after James turned ten. He has always wanted me to marry Tristan because of his riches. I loved you so much and refused to listen, not until ten years into our marriage, he threatened to kill you and James. He had the support of Tristan and his parents too.”

Charles’ eyes reddened as he listened to Helen. He was trying so hard to control his emotions, but his eyes were beginning to fail him.

“Why didn’t you tell me he threatened you?”

“I couldn’t. You would have insisted that we fought for our love if I did! I know how my father and Tristan can be. I had to leave.”

Tears streamed out of Helen’s eyes as she spoke.

“Why are you just telling me this?”

“I didn’t want to tell you then because it wouldn’t change anything. Now, Tristan is dead. I can finally be with you, Charles.”

“He is dead? How did it happen?”

“He was shot. He was involved in some illegal activities, and he was killed. Before his death, I never enjoyed marriage. It was just a contract between my family and him. I couldn’t bear children for him, and he didn’t hesitate to sleep with women and have children outside.”

“Wow, I’m so sorry.”

Helen shook her head and broke into tears. She moved closer to him and hugged him tightly.

“Please forgive me, Charles. I’m back now, and I promise I won’t leave this time. My father doesn’t have a say anymore.”

She kept weeping against his chest, and he decided to let it all out too. They both wept as they embraced each other tightly.

***

It was about 8 pm, and Amelia was driven to James’ home in the same Mercedes Benz that took her to the church. The driver was also the same person.

Freddie told her that he bought her the car, and she could start taking it to the company and anywhere she wanted to take it.

Amelia was happy about her new present and promised him to cherish and take care of it. She had once learnt how to drive when she was at school, so that didn’t seem to be a problem.

She wanted to ride in the same car as James, but he left the reception quite early to attend to his work. So she had to go home alone.

They got to the front of James’ extravagant mansion, and she alighted.

“Thank you,” She said to the driver and watched him park the car in the compound.

She looked at the house and walked to the door, lifting her wedding gown. She couldn’t wait to get rid of it.

She got to the door and her phone began to ring in the purse she carried. She reached for it and saw it was her mother-in-law calling.

“Ma’am Helen.” She answered.

“Amelia, are you home now?”

“Yes, Ma’am. Thank you so much for today.”

“C’mon, you don’t have to thank me. I have sent your things to the house. They are all in James’ room and his room is the last room on the second floor.”

“Errmm, I don’t think he would want my things in his room.”

“Don’t worry, Amelia! You are his wife now. He wouldn’t mind. It’s your wedding night too, remember? Make sure you do it.”

“Do it?!”

Amelia’s eyes widened as she immediately understood what Helen meant.

“Yes, of course! It’s your wedding night. I packed some sexy lingerie in your pink travelling bag. Put that on before he gets back from work, okay? Be ready for him.”

Amelia shyly smiled and nodded.

“Yes, Ma’am.”

“Bye now! I don’t want to be a disturbance.”

After Helen hung up, Amelia reached for the door knob and opened the door. She stepped into the house and her jaw slacked immediately.

The interior of the building was more elegant than the exterior. The very spacious living room was beautified by lights, white sofas, polished furniture, an expensive-looking chandelier, a brown Italian floor, flowers and their vases, paintings, and bifurcated stairs.

‘This is a palace!’ Amelia exclaimed inside of her.

After feeding her eyes with the beauty of the building, she hurried to James’ room to get prepared as Helen had told her.

“But would James want to have sex with me?”

She got to his room and walked in. She switched on the lights and a bright smile crept up her face almost immediately.

The room was screaming James. The smell, the neatness and elegance. It was all James.

She found her bags in front of his closet, and she picked up the lingerie that Helen told her about. She raised one of them and chuckled as she stared at it. It looked so sexy!

Deep down, she couldn’t wait to see his reaction when he saw her in it.

She found her way to the bathroom and freshened up on time. She wore the lingerie and stood in front of the mirror to check herself out.

It was a red, net bra and pantie with a light fabric covering. She smiled widely because she loved the way she looked. She made quick turns to check herself out even more.

She moved to the bed and was about to lay on it when she heard footsteps approaching.

‘He is here!’ She screamed inside of her and sprang to her feet. She stood next to the bed and stared at the door, nervously waiting for him to walk in.

The door finally opened, and she watched James hurry into the room. She furrowed her brows and before she could think, she saw a lady follow him into the room.

He didn’t bother to look up before he grabbed her and began to kiss her aggressively in front of Amelia.

It was like a dream to Amelia.

He proceeded to remove his suit and unbutton his shirt. Amelia began to weep silently. She couldn’t take it anymore.

She cleared her throat loudly, making them stop. James looked back and saw Amelia staring at them.

“What the hell are you doing here?” He asked in anger.

“I…”

“Get out! You are disturbing me,” He said and pulled the woman closer to him again. They began to kiss again.

He didn’t hesitate to help the lady out of her skimpy gown while Amelia was still glued to where she was, shedding tears in disbelief.

‘It’s our wedding night, asshole!’
