Rift in the perfect picture 13
I pursed my lips. “Nicholas, if I remember correctly, I’ve already asked you for a divorce. You have no right to question what I do anymore.”
His voice was chilling as he questioned, “If I don’t have the right, then who does? Why did you bring up divorce at a time like this? Do you think my father has too long to live, and you want to shorten his lifespan?”
His tone was mocking as he added, “Do you think you can simply claim and rescind the title of Mrs. Hawk as you wish?
I smirked. I was unable to contain my sorrow and resentment. Isn’t it funny for you to bring up my status as Mrs. Hawk now? If you hadn’t mentioned it, I would have thought that there were two ladies running this household.”
His expression seemed to falter briefly, but it was so fleeting that the slight change was barely perceptible. “Ariana, you’ve gotten quite good at being sarcastic now. She’s my sister. Would I do something inappropriate with her? Your imaginations are running wild.”
“Indeed, I don’t know if you’ve done anything inappropriate since I have no evidence. But you allowed her to cross the line. Nicholas, if you still care about this family, you should know about maintaining appropriate boundaries,” I retorted.
After I expressed my grievance, anger surged within me. I had initially intended to say something to spite him, but I ended up taking it seriously myself.
His tone was indifferent as he responded, “We’ve been living like this for so many years, and you’ve never said anything before.”
I admitted openly, “Yes, that’s why I’m done with this kind of life.”
His attitude was unbelievably glacial as the rosary beads in his hand rotated faster. “Heh. You’re so fickle.
I looked at the rosary beads in his hand mockingly. He must have gone back to Hawk Manor just to get them today. Without these beads to calm him, he probably couldn’t have lasted a day in front of Claudia.
Outside the door, Claudia called out loudly, “Nick, can you help me apply the cream?” o
Apply the cream? But Claudia was injured where the sun didn’t shine!
Perhaps I didn’t rest well the previous night or I might have been too enraged, but I blacked out after Nicholas went out. As a result, I lost consciousness and fell off the ladder.
When I woke up, I was in the master bedroom. Wendy was looking at me with concern. As soon as she saw me stir, she
ran out.
Then, Nicholas walked in unhurriedly. He was wearing a pair of green–striped pajamas.
As soon as he came in, he questioned me in an unconcerned tone, “You’ve gotten a mild concussion. Are you happy now?”

What did he mean by that? Did he think I did it on purpose again?
I glanced at the bandage on my hand, which was soaked with dried blood. He hadn’t bothered to tend to it. If he had cared even a tiny bit and had the doctor treat me, he would have known I wasn’t faking it.
I wanted to explain. But as soon as I opened my mouth, I started dry heaving and felt extremely dizzy.
Nicholas‘ eyes flickered slightly. Once he confirmed I was okay, he toned down his expression back to its usual
indifference. “This is the last time. You’d better not deliberately self–harm again.”This content © Nôv/elDr(a)m/a.Org.
To love others, one must first love themselves. No matter how. much I loved Nicholas, I wouldn’t hurt myself for him.
As I was feeling dizzy and weak, I didn’t have the energy to argue with him. To shut him up, I blurted, “That depends on you. If you dare to go against my wishes again, I’ll take my life. in front of you.”
Wendy happened to bring a bowl of oatmeal porridge. Before it could make its way to me, Nicholas grabbed it and smashed it. to the floor.
It crashed loudly on the floor, and shattered pieces of the bowl and oatmeal porridge splattered everywhere.
Nicholas was usually composed and rarely lost his temper. Yet, he was frowning hard right now. The fiery rage in his eyes
seemed capable of making the air around him catch fire.
